Heh, I've got more than that.. those were just the ones that happened to be on there

Westjet has one way tickets for $196.50...

Make sure you get your 'nucks tickets ASAP as almost all games are sold out now. I've had trouble finding some for games months away. You could always get some off a scalper... if you don't mind getting financially raped...

Haha. Right. I guess it'd be worth it.

Good luck with it anyways... Let the thread know when you're coming... we may do some kind of a meet thing for the game right by GM Place and you could come by for a bit after the game.

Canucks shut down Coyotes

Sports Ticker
1/27/2003

VANCOUVER (CP) - Markus Naslund scored his league-leading 34th goal of the season and Peter Skudra made 20 saves as the Vancouver Canucks beat the Phoenix Coyotes 1-0 on Sunday.

Skudra's shutout came exactly one year after his last one, which was in Calgary. He now has six career shutouts.

With the win, the Canucks (29-16-5-0) avoided losing three straight games for the first time this season.

Phoenix goaltender Zac Bierk was solid and made 22 saves, including Darren Langdon's breakaway with 1:16 left in the game. It was the fourth straight game Bierk has surrendered just one goal.

The Coyotes' winning streak was stopped at three games and dropped them to 18-21-7-4 on the season.

Both teams failed to score on the power play, with the Canucks getting four chances and the Coyotes having seven opportunities.

Vancouver outshot Phoenix 23-20.

The only goal of the game came on a great display of patience and puck-handling by Naslund. The Vancouver captain got the puck behind the net and faked left and right several times. When Bierk went a little too far left, Naslund cut in on the right side and tucked a high backhand just under the crossbar.

Phoenix had a great chance to tie the game midway through the third period after two of Vancouver's best defencemen, Mattias Ohlund and Murray Baron, took penalties just four seconds apart.

But Skudra came up big, stopping Daniel Briere in close then Ramzi Abid on the rebound, as the Coyotes failed to convert with the two-man advantage.

A few other clutch saves later prompted the crowd to begin chanting Skudra's name.

Notes: The Canucks opened the scoring for the first time in 12 games. ... Vancouver has outshot its opponent in 12 straight games. ... Vancouver defenceman Ed Jovanovski is back on skates after fracturing his left heel Dec. 28. ... The crowd of 18,422 marked Vancouver's 18th straight sellout and 22nd on the season.

Cheers,

Näslund and Öhlund are both great players, they have improved tremendously (sp?) since they started playing there...

The Sedin brothers are good players but i think they haven't reached their prime yet... give them a couple of years and they will truly shine IMO...

I really don't know all that much about Mats, but his shoulder and back injuries are well known...

Yeah, i've always been a Canucks supporter although I have to say it's not my first love. They've been playing very well this last year. I see they just beat - what - Nashville 1-0 on Naslund's goal.

Bandwagon or not I always want the 'nucks to play well. Regular season is .. blah. Playoff hockey is great! When the playoffs come around i'll be glued to the tube.

Canucks lock up Jovanovski, Linden

TSN.ca Staff
1/27/2003

The Vancouver Canucks have signed defenceman Ed Jovanovski and forward Trevor Linden to new multi-year contract extensions, TSN has learned.

Jovanovski's new contract is a three-year, $15 million deal that will see him receive $5 million per season. Linden's deal is a three-year, $6.3 million contract that will pay him $2.1 million per season. There is a club option for a fourth year.

The team has called a news conference for 3pm et/noon pt.

Jovanovski, 26, is in the final year of a contract that pays him $2.8 million US this season and would have become a restricted free agent July 1. Linden, 32, would have become an unrestricted free agent at the same time.

Jovanovski has been out of the lineup since he fractured his left heel in a Dec. 28 game against Anaheim. He skated for about 50 minutes on Sunday morning.

While the Canucks had the day off today, Jovanovski skated hard on his own. He's aiming to participate in a full practice with the Canucks on Wednesday and hopes to be able to play for Vancouver on Thursday. If so, he would be good to go for this weekend's NHL All-Star game in south Florida.

Jovanovski was picked first overall by Florida in the 1994 draft and helped the Panthers reach the Stanley Cup final in 1996.

He was traded to Vancouver on Jan. 17, 1999, in the deal that sent Pavel Bure to Florida.

Linden was taken second overall by the Canucks in 1988 and played nine seasons before being dealt the New York Islanders in 1998. He also played a short stint in Montreal before being dealt to Washington in March of 2001.

Canucks entertain Wild

Sports Ticker

VANCOUVER, British Columbia (Ticker) -- The Minnesota Wild try to improve to 3-1 on their five-game road trip when they conclude their season series against the Vancouver Canucks on Tuesday at General Motors Place.

The Wild had won the first two games of their road trip before falling to San Jose on Saturday, 4-1.

Marian Gaborik scored for Minnesota but it was the only shot the team was able to get past Evgeni Nabokov in 33 attempts.

The Canucks had lost back-to-back contests before posting a 1-0 victory over Phoenix on Sunday.

Peter Skudra made 20 saves for his first shutout in exactly one year and Markus Naslund scored his league-leading 34th goal as the Canucks avoided their first three-game losing streak of the season.

The Canucks defeated the Wild here on November 2 (4-2) and November 25 (2-1), but Minnesota responded with victories on the road on December 7 (4-2) and here on January 16 (5-2).
