<< No I mean the seats in the corners of the field. >>

No sh!t Sherlock. If you didn't notice, those seats are angled toward the center of the field, meaning people who'd sit there wouldn't see the Titan Tron screen thingie.

<< And I'm sorry but getting THAT excited about a 5 yard kick return is dumb and annoying. >>

So at what point is he permitted to get excited?

I'm sure you must be REAL fun at parties..

<< And then they make a pass down to the 1 with hardly any time left and they're down by a touchdown and they're all like "how do you like the XFL now?!". >>

GOOD GOD ALMIGHTY GOOD GOD ALMIGHTY, THAT WAS AMAZING, ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. IN 15 YEARS I HAVE NEVER SEEN ANYTHING, THAT EVEN CLOSELY RESEMBLES, WHAT WE HAVE JUST SEEN HERE! WE HAVE WITNESSED A WAR LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, A WAR THAT IS FAR, FAR FROM OVER.

What the hell are you talking about...

Edit : If the level of excitement at a party is equal to the excitement gernated by a kick return that ends at the return teams 10 yard line is one sh!tty party, I must say.

<< No sh!t Sherlock. If you didn't notice, those seats are angled toward the center of the field, meaning people who'd sit there wouldn't see the Titan Tron screen thingie. >>

AAAAAAAAAAhahahahahhahaahaa!!! Awwww, I can't see the screen..I'm leaving!! Baaahahahahahah!!!

And anyone notice when JR cut to Stephanie McMahon it was like

"And now we go to Stephanie McMaho..."

(pause)

(Cut to Steph)

It seems as if JR out of habit said Stephanie McMahon Helmsley (her name in the WWF), and the "censor" guy caught it and edited it out.

Edit:

<< What the hell are you talking about... >>

If you didn't notice, those seats are angled toward the center of the field, meaning people who'd sit there wouldn't see the Titan Tron screen thingie.

THAT's why there are no seats sold outside the middle sections. The poor audience would miss the happenings on the big screen (i.e. Cheerleaders).

And with 30,000 in attendance, that surely is comparable to an L.A. Raiders/Rams game, all things considered..

You know you have a good fan base when they go to see a big screen and look at the cheerleaders. Ohhh man this league is going to die so fast.

Edit: With my "what the hell are you talking about..." statement, I was refering to this: GOOD GOD ALMIGHTY GOOD GOD ALMIGHTY, THAT WAS AMAZING, ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. IN 15 YEARS I HAVE NEVER SEEN ANYTHING, THAT EVEN CLOSELY RESEMBLES, WHAT WE HAVE JUST SEEN HERE! WE HAVE WITNESSED A WAR LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, A WAR THAT IS FAR, FAR FROM OVER.

When you consider all the other things don't forget to consider the fact that it's the 2nd week for this league.

Um...GoldenBear, there were empty seats at both ends of the stadium if you didn't notice. This goes back to selling only tickets that will be shown on TV at most times, to make it look like it's full.

Honestly, would they stop people from buying tickets so they can put up a huge ass jumbo tron? I don't think so...

Face it, the XFL may be popular on TV (ever so sliding though), but it sure as hell isn't popular at the field.

Let's hear some more precise predictions. How fast?

<< You know you have a good fan base when they go to see a big screen and look at the cheerleaders. >>

You don't seem to understand this simple concept..or you're making very silly insulting remarks to cover up the fact that you were completely ignorant about the "empty seats".

Let's assume part 'A' is true: You can watch a sporting event in two ways: through the TV, and LIVE. When you see it live, you get a real great atmosphere, but you miss stuff that would otherwise be on TV. And with the XFL, there's much more camera coverage and such that makes it a special TV experience. That's where the Titan Tron aparatus comes in to play. People watching the game live won't miss the "TV only" aspects of it, which include the cheerleaders yes, but also the locker room coverage, on-field happenings, and so forth.

I don't know about you, but I wouldn't pay the same price for a ticket if I knew I couldn't see as much as a person who paid an equal price to it, hence they don't sell tickets in that section. It's quite simple really, if I can figure it out.

And if you can't admit the ending to the game wasn't at the very least GOOD, then it's hard for me to see that you're an actual football fan, but rather someone who just looks to blindly bash things that are different.

<< Honestly, would they stop people from buying tickets so they can put up a huge ass jumbo tron? >>

Uh yeah, if you sit behind the jumbo tron you woulnd't see anything on the field. If you didn't notice, it's kind of big.

<< This goes back to selling only tickets that will be shown on TV at most times, to make it look like it's full. >>

I (and the millions of other viewers) saw that part of the field about 25,526 times, as both teams were near their endzone quite a few times, so that theory is out.

<< Is XFL fake? >>

It contains real players, real plays, playing unscripted football (unless you consider following a playbook as scripted).

It's as fake as the NBA/NFL.

Oh GoldenBear, you are so fscking stupid! Just stop trying to make excuses as to why they're not selling tickets.

Listen, by the way, you never stated why the OTHER side was never full, do they reject people at other sporting events (mainly baseball) that sit behind the jumbo tron? No! Because they think the people have the intelligence of actually watching what's happening on the field and not on some large TV. But then again, the lowest forms of intelligence all join together at the XFL games.

Believe me, had they ACTUALLY sold those seats, the jumbo tron would've been scaled down or taken down all together. They're not going to risk the loss of turning people down for seats (thus not making any further profit) for the sake of a jumbo tron.

I'm a football fan. Not a wrestling fan. This league just has way to much of a wrestling 'feel' to it that I just can't get into it.

Exactly Champo. People that want to go see an XFL game aren't going to stay home because they can't watch TV while they're there. So the XFL says, fine, since we can't sell 100% of the seats, only 75%, we'll just pack everyone into the middle and make it look like we're selling out.

<< Oh GoldenBear, you are so fscking stupid! >>

Yes, mindless flames, I missed this from last week's "discussion".

<< Listen, by the way, you never stated why the OTHER side was never full, do they reject people at other sporting events (mainly baseball) that sit behind the jumbo tron? >>

I'm not sure about other stadiums, but there are NO seats behind the big TV in the Oakland Coliseum.

<< Believe me, had they ACTUALLY sold those seats, the jumbo tron would've been scaled down or taken down all together. >>

They never intended to. The Titan Tron was put in before any ticket sales were made.

<< They're not going to risk the loss of turning people down for seats (thus not making any further profit) for the sake of a jumbo tron. >>

I remember listening to a sports radio show in the morning with Gary Radnich (those in the Bay Area would know he's probably the most respected sports guy here, I only point that out so you won't say, "But he doesn't know crap), and he said that people may not want to go to games, as the real action will be on the TV. But the XFL changed all this with the invention of the JUMBO TRON, which if you hadn't noticed, is WAY bigger than any similar set up at an NFL game, thus allowing fans to capture the "experience" they normally wouldn't have because of a lack of a TV.

But I'd say 30,000 in attendance is damn good regardless. 60,000 would've been better, but I (and even the most optimistic of people) never expected Packer type fans that'll sell out all those seat in 4 minutes. Do you even think a Laker game would sell out 60,000 tickets? That may have been part of the reason for the Titan Tron, but above all else, it is to provide "entertainment" between time outs, huddles, etc..

<< Not a wrestling fan. This league just has way to much of a wrestling 'feel' to it that I just can't get into it. >>

Explain to me this WRESTLING feel you speak of. There's eleven guys in pads, both are on either side of a football (which is a different color, but is a football nonetheless), it's played on a grassy field (had it been blue turf I could possibly see your point) that is marked with hashes and yard lines, there are good commentators that call everything on the field, and heck, even the NFL has cheerleaders. What exactly separated it from a "real" football game?

The last few minutes of regulation and OT (while being in a slightly different format) was awesome from where I sit, and I'm sure millions of non-wrestling fans enjoyed the heck out of it to. I didn't see cheerleaders streaking down the field, or guys clobbering each other with chairs and throwing each other through tables, so I really don't see where you get this wrestling "feel" to it. So perhaps you'd like to share your thoughts on this?

And if you don't like it, then why watch? It may be fun for you to point out the most miniscule of things to mindlessly bash it, but eh, I don't think it's as fun for everyone else (like me). And in the end isn't it most important what I think

I have to say my UT man, Copeland, kicked ass. The game tomorrow here in Memphis is headed towards a sell out. The Liberty Bowl holds around 60,000 but with the TitanTron and other sectioning off they did, they are only selling around 35,000 tickets. As of Friday afternoon, 25,000 had been sold.

GO MANIAX!

And as a final resort to the seats in question..USC which uses the Coliseum, covers them in their respected colors (which is red and gold I believe?), so if the XFL is able to sell as many tickets as USC do, then it's totally not a bad sign at all..

<< They're not going to risk the loss of turning people down for seats (thus not making any further profit) for the sake of a jumbo tron. >>

Not true. Ever see any WWF program? A whole side of the arena is blocked off by that setup. And wrestling shows sell out in 10 minutes (literally), so yes, they are willing to risk the loss of turning people down for seats for an excellent atmosphere.

<< Is XFL fake? >>

No, it isn't. Vegas is taking bets on the games, so that guarantees its legitimacy.

Considering the extremely unlikely turn of events that came about in the last 10 minutes of play, YES.

With only a few seconds left LA scores, forcing the game into overtime. Chicago scores and gets the extra point, just after SNL would have started. LA miraculously does the same and forces yet another overtime. LA scores and Chicago doesn't, so LA wins. All of the plays that led to the overtimes seemed to have been framed to look miraculous or something. Why? To catch the interests of people like myself who had just turned on the TV to watch SNL.

No, I wasn't watching this stupid league. I turned on the TV at 10:28 Central time to catch the beginning skit of SNL, which, by the way, sucked almost as hard as the XFL. I can't believe I waited to watch it. Blech.:|

And Golden Bear, stop being such an over-confrontational ass. Please don't do a line by line response to this as I find them incredibly annoying and tasteless. I won't even respond.

I must admit some of it looks staged. Especially, as I have already mentioned, the touchdown the guy caught to tie the game (I think to tie it). The DB totally waited for him to catch the ball before he made his move.

THE XFL IS NOT FAKE!!!!!!!!

<< The DB totally waited for him to catch the ball before he made his move. >>

Thats called a rookie mistake. Thats why these people are playing in the XFL and not the NFL.

This happens all the time in high school ball as well. I guess that is fake too?

And like I said, Vegas is taking bets on XFL games. They do not take bets on sports unless they are 100% legitimate; so try finding another excuse.
