hmm, just got back from the Final game. Cuba doesn't know when to quit! hehehe. Congrats to Japan on the win. Although I didn't agree w/ the bracket system, ah well, the games were all very entertaining, so I can't complain.
Tonight's game didn't seem professional, however. Cuba gave up too many walks, 3 runs from walks wtf. Too many errors. Not something you'd really expect from a championship game, and makes you wonder how the teams got this far. But well, they did within the rules of the WBC, and played their hearts out.
The crowd was just awesome, and PACKED.
Just glad that I got to be among the 40K people to attend the Semi's and Final of the first WBC. Not sure if it's something to tell my grandkids about, hah. well maybe I guess. I still have both ticket stubs.
I never had so much fun watching baseball these last couple of weeks. I was always a baseball fan, but now i'm a rabid fan. ...How 3 weeks can change a casual fan...
I rooted for my native country of Korea, and they gave me something to cheer about for a long time to come. The defensively display shown in a lot of these games should be the new standard for all players who want to play at such a level. The WBC was a clinic for defense, and batting discipline.
I was a bit upset that USA played poorly, but that just means the world has caught up, well, not the world, but you know, just the few prominent countries.
Like I said before, for the next 20 or so years, it's going to be Dominican Rep, Cuba, USA, Mexico, Japan, and Korea that's going to most likely dominate this tourney every three years. Whoever gets the title will do it with luck, consistency, and more luck etc; since it seems that any of these teams can beat each other on any given night.
I can't wait 'till the next WBC!
