Disappointing game for the US, but not a surprising one (to me at least). You can watch some of these other teams play and see them make what seems like impossible goals from incredible angles. Then you watch us play and we just can't score enough even with great/easy opportunities. And our defense was pretty shabby at times as well.

Oh well, see ya in four years.

US is investing more and more into football and it takes a while to get results.

True but it still bears a huge stigma no self respecting jock goes into. They play the sports that are popular. Sport that make US money. Whole segments of good athletes, even those who don't make the pros never gave soccer a chance, so your still left with genetically inferior athletes unlike other countries where everyone wants to be a footballer and their best specimens are playing it.

altadore didn't show up, my buddy gooch wasn't too great in the first two games in defense, bradley doesn't know how to pass or touch 8/10 times...

i'm still proud of our team and how they honestly didn't dive all that much the entire world cup... today's game, i only saw two dives the entire time. that's way less than any other nation i've watched so far.

G20...it brings the world leaders and the wakos determined to make trouble.

It's all Harper's fault. City suggested CNE, which is very easy to block off and defend and not in the middle of Dowtown Toronto. But no, it has to be the Convention Centre.

Should have held it in Nunavut

It's a self-fulfilling prophecy. USA does produce good athletes. Think of Lebron James playing soccer. But he makes an order of magnitude more money in the NBA. Same with football and such. So if you're good at 3 sports, you end up picking the most lucrative one. And with the sad state of soccer, no sponsors = no money = no salary.

Even most of the top soccer people in Europe only make maybe 7 million a year, compared to 15-20+ for tons of people in basketball, baseball, etc. I think C. Ronaldo might make 13-15 a year and he's the highest paid player in the game, which is about the same value as Theo Ratliff's expiring contract.

I voting for Mexico. Love their teamwork and underdog status. Uruguay is amazing!! only 3 million people and in it at the top.

Lebron LOL isnt he a little tall? Goal Keeper maybe I'm thinking more like Adrian Wilson, Darren Sharper, Charles Woodson, Darrelle Revis, Adrian Peterson etc...and thousands more like them... Faster than lighting and cut on a dime. If guys like this were primed for soccer it would be like our Olympic basketball in world cup. No competition.

pick a better bet.

yeah, i know... but they're still favorites of mine. i'm still gonna cheer for them to win.

if they get knocked out, i'll be cheering on argentina. i like their style of play.

i don't remember a world cup where i cheered for brazil. it's like cheering for the yankees.

The bright point of all this is that your average American can go back to not caring about Soccer again for another 3.9 years or so.

Yes; soccer is "boring" once again in USA. Those cheeky, cheeky Americans.

Regardless, the Spain and Portugal match should be incredible. Viva Espana!

US team looked dead tired out there. never came ahead in a group header situation. consistently allowed them to get boxed in when moving the ball upfield frequently causing a turn over. had several clear open breakaway situations but somehow the defender from opposite side of the field always managed to make it over in time. all those games where early goals meant they needed full speed ahead till game end and then needing to use most of their substitutions early this match had many dead legs out there and it wasn't pretty.

Loving the way my Dutch are playing right now, hopefully they continue. I'm also rooting for Brazil, as I always have.
