I've been sitting here watching a bit of G4's E3 coverage, which started tonight, and they were interviewing a guy with Silicon Knights about Too Human. The game looked alright, but obviously not optimized (frame rate and animation issues abound), but one little tidbit that almost all but cemented the purchase of this game for me: 4-player co-op on Live for the entire game, including specialized combos. !!!!!! Hell yes. Imagine God of War or Devil May Cry (the good ones) online with 4 player co-op. Hopefully the game will live up to the hype.

Little bit of a closer look on the XBLA titles revealed. I'm hearing good things about UNO but I dont know lol??

18 Xbox Live Arcade titles revealed

Here's a quick n' dirty breakdown of the 18 Xbox Live Arcade games that were playable at Microsoft's after (media breifing) party:

Cloning Clyde - indie platformer

Contra - arcade port; Konami code works; diagonal shooting was spotty

Defender - arcade port

Frogger - arcade port
Galaga - arcade port
Heavy Weapon - indie side-scrolling tank shooter

Lumines Live - like PSP version, but with downloadable videos

Mutant Storm Empire - indie sequel with upgraded visuals; continuous levels; room-to-room (a la Smash TV)

Pac-Man - arcade port
RoboBlitz - indie title using Unreal Engine 3; build was unplayable unbearable

Scramble - arcade port
Street Fighter II' Hyper Fighting - arcade port; controls (on gamepad) were inconsistent

Small Arms - indie Smash Bros. ripoff

Texas Hole 'Em - poker (without real money)

Time Pilot - arcade port
Totemball

Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 - arcade port
Uno - card game
A Microsoft representative told us that these titles should be available by the holiday season, with some seeing summer/fall releases. Street Fighter, Texas Hole 'Em, and Uno will represent the next available batch of XBL Arcade games and should be released in the coming weeks.

Thanks for the info jlmadyson. I've been trying to download the Uno demo all night, but it's a no go. I got to 86% at one point, but the damn thing decided it wanted to start over. Got back to 65%, and it started over again, and I've said the hell with it. Can't wait for some Street Fighter and the free Texas Hold'em also.

Yea, servers are getting slammed right now, especially this week, we've got the free week going on, ton of new content all week, and now probably every jim dandy has gone out tonight to buy themselves a 360 (case in point). It will get worse before it get's better I predict. I?m trying to download the Gears of War television special trailer but no go for the moment.

UT 2007 Now Confirmed by MS? Looks to be..

Thought this one was just PS3/PC, I guess not. It looks like they're pretty much confirming it. Scroll down and look at the titles at the bottom of the page.

Microsoft E3 2006 Press Conference over @TXB

A lot better video than GS's options imo. Anyhow that Gears of War in-game footage is just insane I say.

Based on E3. 360, I think, is going to with the console war. First, you just can't top Live. And, like it or not, GRA4 and Halo 3 will be amazing, and it is already on second gen games that are unreal looking. Sorry Sony, I think it is time to fall behind.

How real can it get? Well take a look...

Gamespot gets a realtime look at Halo 3 trailer in action

Shortly after Microsoft's presentation, we had an opportunity to get a close-up look at Halo 3 with Bungie representatives. We spoke with Brian Gerrard, one of Bungie's community managers, as well as TJ Cohen, the cinematics director. Cohen stated that the trailer was a good example of where Halo 3 is going, in terms of fiction. By that, he means that the story is epic in scale, but dark as well, and Bungie is going for a distinct mood, since Halo 3 will represent the end of the trilogy.

The Bungie representatives made it clear to us that the trailer was running in real-time on the Xbox 360. The trailer is set in the African desert, and it was taken from roughly a third of the way through the game. Cohen noted that the constant battling has taken its toll on Master Chief, and you can see that by the many scratches and gouges in his armor. The flashes of Cortana seen in the trailer fill you in on the state of her mind, and the Forerunner structure seen in the distance at the end of the trailer represents a pivotal point in the story.

We next met with Marcus Lehto, Bungie's art director, who filled us in on the technology as he gave us a fly through of the locations in the trailer. The crater seen in the trailer is three miles across, and it's all rendered in real geometry. Halo 3 has a new global lighting system that now lights everything uniquely from the same source, which explains just how that setting sun looked that good as it illuminated everything in the trailer. Halo 2, on the other hand, used a lighting system that lit everything separately. Meanwhile, parallax mapping is able to give depth to structures in the distance, such as the clouds above the crater. A new particle system offers different levels of light diffusion to take the quality of the atmosphere into account, and that makes for different layers of light.

The demo shifted away from the crater to the part of the level you see the Master Chief walking in from. He was controllable, which means that the trailer indicates just how good the game will look. Lehto was able to zoom in on the Master Chief with the camera, and you could see the many different ways light reflected objects onto him. For example, you could see light reflect off the ground and onto his armor. A new materials system shows the difference between his armor and the rubber undersuit. It's so detailed that if you bring the camera close to the Master Chief's visor, you see everything in front of him reflected in it, right down to the ammo counter in his rifle.

It goes without saying that Halo 3 looks really impressive. We'll have to wait to learn more, but we'll keep you up to date with any developments.

If you have a few MP's to spare (150) grab that Halo 3 theme you will not be disappointed.

A little round up from the IGN round table this evening, pretty much spot on although I believe the Wii had a fairly good showing, far better than Sony that is for certain;

What they said about Microsoft
-full of excitement
-gave you a great reason to buy it, if you havent already
-did what they had too do
-the GOW did what killzone did last year in CG
-really cool camera tricks in GOW
-I love the 360. Playing some really good games.
_another saying "i'm really happy."
-Lost planet demo was better than anything Sony showed
-the live anywhere blew them away
-want to see more of mass effect and too human

About PS3
-Ps3 is not doing anything better than 360.
-not convinced
-should have pulled out killzone
-One guy said "give us some evidence that your putting some effort in it rather than fvckin releasing janky a$$ 500 versions of your console that do nothing more than bend over the consumer, BEhave like a marketleader if you want to lead the market!
-expensive. makes 360 core look like a really good deal
-lack of hdmi for 500 version

misc statements
-People are saying it's going to be a 40/40/20 with Wii being last.
-One guy asked another "As a gamer where would you go first tomorrow?" answer was "blue dragon"
-super excited about the new wheel for 360

what they said about wii
-Red steel was a kill bill knock off and generic
-not enough harware advanement
-one of them said they'd rather play the gamecube version of zelda to the end instead of wii version
-the mario game is like the luigi's mansion of mario

Uno is quite a lot of fun, but I'm not sure how it'll scale to two people playing against each other in person at the same console. Anyone buy it?

Microsoft got me to actually wait on buying a new cell phone - once I heard about this Live Anywhere stuff, I just had to be sure whatever I got was going to work with it properly. I suspect this isn't going to be a big deal, but I'd like to make sure that it won't require Windows Mobile 6. The irony is that I don't even run Windows at home (I'm a Linux geek).

Yeah, I got Uno last night. It is actually pretty challenging as the CPU players aren't exactly pushovers. I won only 2 of 4 games. Nobody was around to play on Live though. Probably all downloading trailers as my download speeds on XBLM last night were horrific.

No details on pricing or possible HDMI/DVI dongle.

Looks crap IMHO. I'll get a 19" rack to put the lot in shall I?

Personally, I like the design not too big and clunky exactly what I was hoping.

Well when you add up all the items:

- 360
- PSU
- HD DVD drive
- HD DVD PSU?
- WiFi addon

it's getting a little out of hand.

Not really, WIFI add on takes up no space, my 360 PSU is far from my entertainment stand, so once again not really a problem for me. Just pretty much this unit on top of the 360. Like so:

E3 2006: The New Wireless Fleet

May 9, 2006 - Today, the day before E3 2006, Microsoft unleashed the first set of wireless controllers since the console launched in November 2005, and today's new fleet take the wireless idea to the next level.

Microsoft unveiled three new wireless products, all internally developed: 1) The Xbox 360 Wireless Racing Wheel; 2) the Xbox 360 Wireless Headset; 3) and the Xbox 360 Wireless Gaming Receiver for Windows.

After studying the statistics on attach rates, Microsoft watched as wireless products went from a 17%-18% attach rate (the ration tie-in of peripherals and consoles sold together) in 2004 to a 60% attach rate in 2005 and 2006. Wireless controllers, says Microsoft's Albert Penello, the global platform marketing lead, responsible for console and accessories, out-sell wired controllers four to one. Microsoft plans on delivering these three wireless peripherals by fall 2006 on Xbox 360 and PC.

The wireless steering wheel.

The Xbox 360 Wireless Racing Wheel (release date: fall, price TBD) is in development internally at Microsoft by several members from the Microsoft Sidewinder team. The first-party design has a thick, contoured rubber pad for lap usage, and a sturdy clamp for table usage. The wireless steering wheel comes with F1-style shift paddles and pedals equipped with a medal rim to anchor your heels while playing.

The existing battery life is the same as the wireless controller and, by using the AC adaptor, you'll get force feedback. There are two levels of feedback, the basic rumble motors that pick up wheels on gravel and low-level rumbles, and force feedback, from the actual car performance -- slides, crashes, etc. The same rechargeable unit that works for the controllers works with the Xbox 360 wireless steering wheel. The wheel comes with full Dpad usage, ABXY buttons, and a guide button. It comes in one color, "chill white."

The wireless headset.

The Xbox 360 Wireless Headset (release date: fall, price TBD) is a small ear-clip that mimics the current fad of Blue Tooth-enabled cell phones. It fits over your ear; there are two sizes for smaller and larger size ears. The wireless earpiece features better sound quality than previous headsets and features a better mic and better sound reception technology. It features an adjustable boom, 30-foot range, and a built-in lithium battery with eight hours and a wall charger to recharge.

The wireless PC adaptor.

The Xbox 360 Wireless Gaming Receiver for Windows (release date: fall, price TBD) enables players who use both consoles and PCs to attach wireless accessories to their PC. Using a simple USB port, players can plug this tool into their PC permitting other wireless controllers and accessories to be used with their PC.

Take a look at these in-game images and then check out the additional images in the gallery section.

Not too sure about the steering wheel yet, but the wireless functionality is nice.

I would say that it is ugly, but then again... What do I expect an external HD DVD drive to look like?

Finally, a wireless headset. I'll be the first in line to get one of these. Not sure why they didn't do this at the very beginning, afterall, Microsoft said they took great care to make everything wireless that could be.

Obviously I'll get negative reactions from fanboys, but am I the only one that thinks the 360 is looking more and more like a huge ripoff? Instead of paying $400 for a complete system, and $60 for games, you now get half the system and you have to pay for addons or levels that should have been in the game to begin with.

I can't believe people are actually happy that they get to pay for extra chapters in GTA4 not available to PS3 owners. Personally, I would rather have all the levels included in a game I paid $60 for.

I'm not sure that I care much for a wireless headset... Hell, my head is never more than four feet from my hands anyway.

Half the system? I'm not sure how you figure... If you're suggesting that $400 should cover every wireless accessory and HD-DVD, then your expectations are way out of whack.

As for games, I can definitely see the point of contention. I'm a huge fan of added levels and maps and really don't have a problem paying for those. Take Halo 2 for example... Months later, they added several multiplayer maps. If you were to argue that those "should have been in the game to begin with", the game would never be released because they were continually working on it.

If we're talking about the horse armor in Oblivion, then I'll definitely agree that was pretty silly to charge for that. But then again, you are certainly under no obligation to purchase it, and the game doesn't suffer without it.

You know how they are releasing a revised xbox with the 65nm processor (reducing heat, energy consumption and possibly increasing power). What happens to everyone else who bought the original system? I want the 360, but I just sold my old xbox and was thinking about picking one up soon (during the summer). 2007 is kind of far off.

What's with the USB ports on the HD-DVD drive? I assume the mini USB would be used for the connection to the 360 system, but why are there 2 full sized USB ports?

It looks like, it provides for additional USB since you will be taking one up with the drive.
