What are my options to get my ZUNE HD to play on my xbox360 and my home stereo system? Just want to play the music upstairs.

On the 360: plug it in via USB.

On the home stereo: either get a dock and use that, or just use a male-to-male stereo minijack (with appropriate RCA stereo adapter, if needed) from the headphone jack to your receiver. The dock should sound better, since the line-out is unamplified (versus the headphones jack, which is).

A cell phone style volume rocker would be a nice touch though. That was one thing that aggrevated me with my Zune16 - you can't (that I could figure out) change the volume before hitting the play button. When I use my Zune in the car, I have the volume up all the way and use the car controls for volume. When I use it with headphones....uh, that's really loud.

it's a pain in the ass to change tracks?
Simply hit the button to get to the now playing screen, and swipe left or right to skip next or back.
If you use the lock screen all you have to do is swipe up to unlock, then swipe left or right for tracks.

But yes, I would like a rocker with middle press. But I don't mind it the way it is either, I really like the UI.

The bolded is not a one step process. If you are anywhere else in the player, you have to hit home, then hit the left to bring up that menu, then press now playing, then swipe. 1 button, 2 screen taps, and a swipe. With the button on the side, its 1 button, 1 screen tap. If you're just listening to music, chances are the screen is locked - which means a swipe up, and a swipe left/right.

If you have a normal Zune and you're just listening to music, its one button press. Yes, more complicated if you're not in the now playing screen, but still.

Huh? You should be able to hit the side button to bring up the controls, and then just tap the right or left soft-button to skip how you want. In fact, the side button works even when the player is "locked".

Hell, I just tested it, and if your player is "screen off", you can hit the side button, and it'll turn it "screen on" AND put up the controls (despite being locked!). I'm with destrektor on this one: two button presses to skip a track, max.

Yes - that's my point, my above post (that destrekor replied to) was stating why that button with the quickplay controls are needed, because without it, the above is what you'd have to do to change tracks.

Zune HD Car Pack. Anyone else have one of these?

Wow. Nothing but static when trying to listen to music. The auto-search is terrible on the unit. My old ipod car adapter, A griffen, could play music without any static at all, and costed 1/2 of what this accessory for the Zune HD costs. Might end up taking it back to Best Buy. I literally have to hold the ZUNE HD, up in the middle of the car, to get crystal clear sound. Anywhere near the stereo deck or on the dash in the car, just terrible.

Anyone else have issues with this? Shame MS charges $80 for this thing.

Can't say I've ever used it... I just use a 3.5mm stereo adapter straight in my deck.

$80? For the FM modulator/car charger? Hmm...I got one free with my Zune16 from Amazon. It doesn't work that great, no, but I have an aux cable in my car anyway so there's no point in my using FM.

Does anyone else get staticy audio while charging their Zune? Whenever I try to charge and listen in my car (car charger and 3.5mm jack to the car stereo) I get about half static, half music.

I get similar on my iPod, a high pitched whine sometimes, I am pretty sure that it has something to do with my alternator being too wimpy.

As for the static... it might be.. i don't know... poor shielding on the power line that is somehow... you know... interfering? I spent 2 years studying Electrical Engineering, but switched programs before I actually got to any Electrical stuff.

I had the same problem on my Zune 30, and read that they fixed it on the 80\120. I kinda figured it wouldn't be back on the HD.

Looks like the 4.3 firmware has been released. The browser seems to be somewhat improved, amongst other things!

after downloading the software off the website and it telling me I couldn't get a connection to the internet I had to download a idfferent 500mb package. Once that was installed I couldn't get an account due to it telling me that I couldnt get a secure line or it would give hte internet error. After fixing that now I can not donwload anything due to DRM sucking hard and nothing I have found online has fixed it... the reset tool gets an error when it runs, I have deleted the DRM folder, and I have ever tried reinstalling WMP12 which gets an error during the install. I hate microsoft and I hate DRM -_-

Wow, can't say I've ever had any of that happen before... you might think about wiping and doing a clean install, sounds like your OS is getting crufty.

New 3D games released!

The racing one seems fun, and I loved the checkers. Hopefully the closed nature of the apps store means that at least quality will be kept high... a man can dream...

I've got one for my Zune30 but I only use it for charging since I have a line in. I tried the FM part a couple times but couldn't ever get it to work without static.

Saw that this morning. That's an AWESOME feature. I love SmartDJ, I use it all day at work. Being able to use it via wifi on the Zune itself will be great. Couple it with WIFI tethering on a cell phone and you've got SmartDJ everywhere you go!
