Oh Brother, Where Art Thou

Who seen this movie? I saw it in the theater, then rented the DVD Friday and watched it. Then ended up watching it two more times while I was painting my living room on Saturday.

Outstanding.

The funny thing about that movie, while I was watching it I couldn't wait for it to end, and after it was over I thought it was a good movie. I guess it requires several viewings to understand it.

I thought it was wonderful. In hindsight I think it was a shame that it was not even considered for any of the major Academy awards, as I thought it was MUCH fresher and more intelligent than, say, Gladiator, which I regarded as a rather tired, cookie-cutter historical epic.

It was, wasn't it? I really like that scene, but kinda get creeped at the same time.

I bought the DVD, too, after renting it.

My little girl really likes the scene of the Sirens, and makes me play that part over and over.

The guy that plays Delmar did an incredible job. Has he done any other notable stuff?


Also, FiddleDD downloaded that song; "I am a man of constant sorrow" for me, and it is a different version than the guitar-only one that they did at the radio station. I like the guitar one better than the banjo one. I wonder where, if, you could find it.

Nope, it's just a coen brothers movie. Either you love it at first sight or sit there after it's finished and think "huh?"

Great movie. I rented it, then purchased it the next day. I've probably watched it 5 or 6 times since then. Watching it on a good HT system, the part with the people going to baptism is amazing. You can hear the voices waaaaaaay off in the distance before the onscreen characters notice them. They gradually get louder, and you can hear them pass you by, plus you can really pick out individual voices. I swear, the sound in this movie rocks.

I was really looking forward to it from the advance publicity & loved the music that I heard on the radio. Also I liked other Coen bros. movies. But I was disappointed in the movie. Puppy eyes (mental block as to his name) was overacting & mugging, as usual (only decent role ever done was Three Kings).

I fell asleep half way through. Maybe some day I will try it again.

yes, i loved the movie, best movie i've seen in a looooooooooooooong time.
SirFshAlot- i've got the soundtrack, and there are 2 different versions of the song on the it, one is called the "radio version", although i haven't watched the movie again to see if it is the exact one from the movie.

He was good in Out Of Sight too, but he was better in Three Kings. I actually thought Jennifer Lopez had her best performance in Out Of Sight. That's a Soderbergh movie, right?

I just loved seeing this movie in the theater. I thought the dialogue was wonderful. And the soundtrack was great
