OH MY GOD

I think I'm going to kill myself.

I've been working on my final assignment for my C++ class all week. It is painfully long. I just finished all of the classes...finally. I spent the last 2 days debugging my file IO and functions for sorting linked lists. It was finally working...I went to compile...and BAM. VC++ crashes. I open it...it deleted the file that made up about 50% of the stuff I had done, and had all of the most complicated functions like the ones above.

I guess its out the window for me...

ditto! and place them in multiple places

i upload it to my web space, to cdrw and to another location on the harddrive. pgp encrypted. the whole backup process takes forever

It saves every time it compiles. And I manually save every time anyway.

It deleted the file when it crashed.

Anyeone have a good decompilor I can use on the .obj files?

linked lists in c++ is pretty painful because of all the memory management
but difficulty is relative

nah, it's not that bad. Sure, it's MUCH simpler in Java, but as long as you can get your head around all the pointer stuff, it's not bad.

but when you can get it right in C, you're good.

The file might still be on the drive. Try using winhex or some other data recovery program to look for it.
