I remember watching the trial and I can say that Rodney king and the OJ trial are when things started going down hill for America, racially speaking. At the time I felt and still feel the Rodney king beating was not only disgusting but eye opening and the rap music I was listening to at the time was bringing to light an issue not many non black people were aware of.

When the OJ verdict was announced I felt Justice wasn’t served but I understood why black people were happy with the outcome, finally one of theirs got to take advantage of an unjust system. Listening to the trial and watching him action while trying to put on the bloody glove was when I thought the case was closed and he was guilty.

I think that the Rodney king thing and the OJ thing were two totally different situations!
One was a rich guy that clearly killed two people and got off because... well... rich guy.
The other was a heinous example of police racism.

Told my son, I was gonna raz her if she cried during Dahmer or Bundy getting dead.

She said she was crying for Nicole and Ron. That finally, he will pass ultimate judgement if there is any. (also hormonal too) nother discussion.

Was the trial of the century, for the 1990s . We now have the next trial(s) of the century coming up in the 2000+s

No, it was about a black person being able to overcome the law like many white people have been able to.

What people, even to this day, don’t understand is that it’s not about one Justice system for white people and another for everyone else, it’s one Justice system for the rich and one for everyone else. OJ won because he could afford to.

At the time of the trial I couldn't believe that the prosecution didn't call in an expert witness in regard to how much leather shrinks after getting wet.

I think you're actually missing how that trial exposed basically every single flaw in our judicial system. It wasn't just the glove, or extravagance of his defense team, as those alone wouldn't have saved him. It took a confluence of other factors, racial tensions due to rampant racism by the LAPD (which directly undermined them and should have been a lesson for policing) with a detective's racism trashing his credibility, coupled with use of new forensic science (jurors I think have said that the lengthy scientific explanation of DNA matching undermined it in their eyes - basically it made it difficult for them to follow the validity of it - ironically its one of the few forensic science things that has gotten stronger and not been revealed to be junk science), poor judgement by prosecutor's office, and the media and celebrity obsession of America (and the world really, but especially America in the 90s), coupled with TV enabling it to be prime viewing. Simply put, the OJ Simpson trial might be the most American thing ever. Involved our broken judicial and political systems, sports/NFL (if OJ had been found guilty I could see lawyers arguing for him to get a new trial to argue insanity based on CTE), and just. The only real arguments is that he didn't do it with a gun while arguing a bald eagle actually did it (if you know true crime you know what I'm referencing there) and how he was asleep by the pool after he got drunk on Budweiser after eating hot dogs and cheeseburgers followed by apple pie after doomscrolling social media about how 9/11 was an inside job by jewish space lasers put on alien UFOs on his iphone. Ok, so it really isn't the most American thing ever, but its pretty close to the most singularly American point of human history.

And yet, for all of it, it really came down to simple investigation, with one of the all too common, fragile male ego turns man into violent psychopath when rebuffed by a woman.

I'd say maybe reflect on why a woman might cry when a man that notoriously brutally murdered his wife died, but guessing there's no real chance of it so it'd be lost on you, even after your wife seems to have explained it to you. The fact that you behaving like that is so normalized that you thought to post it on a message board like you're bragging about what an asshole you are is telling though.

I think maybe it could be argued that for the rich guy the racism worked out in his favour. The same racism that convicted so many poor black guys was also apparent in OJ's case, but his money meant he could make it work to his advantage.

That is, being rich (and a celebrity) meant he could buy and manipulate his way to a sort of crude 'payback' for all the poor black guys who got convicted of things they didn't do. The poor black guys get the injustice, the rich one gets the "reparations" (exclusively for himself). I suppose that's what they call "intersectionality".

I think, now, I understand why. They do not seek justice, they seek vengeance. And murdering people is an acceptable form of attaining that. If they cannot get vengeance on the street, they try in the courtroom. They endorse the guilty.

The outcome is proudly stated as "packback", and now I think I see a clearer picture. Both then and now.

Meanwhile OJ got $20000 a month as a pauper as someone that murdered 2 people.

You are listening to the word of one person but you have no clue about what black people really thought about OJ before the trial. OJ was generally looked upon as someone who was trying to whitewash his blackness. Yes he was a football great but he was no hero to black people. White people loved OJ more.

The feelings of black people were less about OJ but more about “ we tried to tell you white people about the criminal justice system. We were getting abused by it for decades. It took this to finally open your eyes so pardon us if we gloat just a little”. Rodney King virtually assured OJ was going to get off.

Perhaps some of y’all should have been more concerned when Rodney King got his ass beat on tape and the cops were acquitted.

Just a point of history, if white people learned anything from Emmitt Till, Rodney King NEVER would have happened.

For the record, at the end of the trial I thought OJ was guilty but I empathized with the sentiment of many black people in this country.

I remember working at the courts in lower Manhattan swapping out defective Pentium processors that had the math co-processor issues. It was in some non profit dept. All of the workers were black and were watching the verdict. When they announced the verdict I yelled WHAT? they all looked at me like I was mad. I said nothing and continued working and left promptly.
