But I don't think, given all that has happened since that Trump has happened since, one could claim things have improved since that time.

I mean compare the state of the country when it comes to the criminal justice system from back then(1992/ 1995) to today (2024)

Have we improved as a country? IMO we have not looking at the treatment of George Floyd. What has gotten better is technology has allowed more evidence of police abuse which helped sink Derrick Chauvin.

Philippe Kahn should be placed in the black people's hall of fame. I'll let you look up why.

Improved? If at all, barely but what has happened is that more people are aware of what’s going on now than before. Will it ever improve? I don’t see it happening until our current crop of republicans no longer have a stranglehold on our politics.

I remember hearing the verdict as a teen and getting a bit angry because OJ was clearly guilty.

As an adult, I've changed. While OJ practically confessed to the murders, the police tainted their case. Justice is only justice if law enforcement behaves ethically. It didn't here, and excusing it here would have done injustice to Black people in other cases.

Having said all that: few people are going to shed a tear over OJ's death.

I want to compare the reactions to the Rodney King verdict 1992 and the OJ verdict 1995 and ask, has the country improved since?

We may see some examples of improvement on the surface... but there is no improvement to the solid foundations on which nations must be built.
Humans remain the same.

And the only thing that would mark us better than any animal, our institutions of law and justice. Of peace and order. They face a greater threat than ever before.
