Ok ATOT. Sartorial advice needed!

A friend is getting married this year. In the summer. In the hot, hot British summer!
My go to suit is going to be way too warm, it's a wool blend light grey three piece so I'm looking at getting a linen summer weight suit. I don't wear suits very often (just weddings, funerals and the odd cocktail session)

My question is is a pink linen suit a bit much?


I definitely want to go with a three piece, there's no fun in wearing a suit unless it's got a waistcoat!

I want this waistcoat but the wife is very hard no about it!

Pink seems a bit much, but lighter fabrics like linen or thinner wools are the way to go. You should consider looking at stuff the Menswear guy posts on Twitter and/or Bluesky. He has some good advice about traditional clothing and fabrics/colors for various seasons.

My main worry about linen is what is being served for food. If it's curry I'm definitely not wearing a light linen suit!

I think that I'll need to try a pink suit on to see what it actually looks like in daylight.

I have to agree with @IronWing . Your wife is wrong about the waistcoat. It looks beautiful and the color tones are perfect. I love wearing clothes that are on the more flamboyant side to special occasions. IMO it makes the occasion more special because you went out of your way to dress for it and that shows the host you care.

I do have some reservations about a light pink suit though. While I do think it would pair well with the waistcoat you picked out you mentioned you have a pale complexion. IME that doesn't always work well with softer colors like light pink or light blue. Even in the image you posted the person has a darker complexion. Just something to think about.

Anyway, this is just my two cents. I really think you should take your own advice and try a suit on in the color you have chosen before you buy it.
