hmm, will have to check out those bands, I;ve actually never heard of them. I will add these bands to the list:

Orphaned Land - Mediterannean-themed metal, very heavy and dynamic
Edguy - power metal a la Iron maiden, very catchy

Poisonblack --- if you like Type O Neg

if you like Edguy, definately check out Gamma Ray and Avantasia.
(although those don't really fall into the category of this post.. heavy/goth/speed/death/thrash metal)

As I Lay Dying

Not exactly "heavy metal". The aforementioned bands actually know how to play their instruments.

hmm, that comment doesn't really make sense.

unearth rocks, as i lay dying is boring.

2 more to check out:

All That Remains - think Killswitch Engage with more varied song structures, some shred/technical guitar solos, less clean singing

Pig Destroyer - blast beats up the a$$, incoherent screaming, 1 minute-long tunes, 20 different riffs per song, but they can lock in and groove

Opeth
Bloodbath
Katatonia
Edgo of Sanity
At the Gates

Yea, I tend to like Swedish bands ....

Ohh and for the non swede style ...

These are all pretty heavy Death-Grind or Black Metal
Isacaarum
Pigsty
DeFlorace
Arafel
Abigor
Summoning
Einherjer

Comments on some of the above mentioned bands ....

Also Blood Duster is funny, I like them, I actually haven't even heard of "Perfect Nothing"
Snap your Fingers, Stap your neck is a classic in my book, Prong was great back in the day.
I could never got too much into living sacrifice, though their music is for the most part pretty good.

Darkthrone ... that's good stuff, good luck finding something with decent production quality though ...

Savatage ... While not in the same style as anything else mentioned, they are truly a great band. Definatly worthy of recomendation.

Iced Earth ... I really dig this stuff. I also believe that they keep getting better every CD they release. Even though some dislike "the ripper" I personally like how he sings on Glorious Burden. I wouldn't really recommend buying the Gettysburg DVD, as I am both a History buff, and Iced Earth fan, and I don't care for it too much. However, I would recommend each of their CDs.

Metal Church.

Merciless Onslaught is an awesome tune.

I saw that Mike Howe, that replacement singer, is now a real estate agent in Tennesee, or Kentucky somewhere.

Oh crap, I was just googling & found out that David Wayne passed away last month. That sucks.

I saw All That Remains when they opened for Opeth on Monday. I had never heard of them before but they kicked ass! I'm gonna buy a CD now.
