Older but still good games?

I come to you masters of video gaming...I've been out of the loop for a looonngg time as far as gaming is concerned...just received a 9800 Pro as a gift to pair up with a P4 2.8 and gig of ram...so I think I could play some fairly recent or older games...

I'm mostly into FPS with online capability...but won't rule out any single player options..

The last game I played through was Max Payne 2 which I loved...and still play the original UT (it's an addiction).

What do you guys recommend....

Unreal Tournament 2004 and Halo PC both have great multiplayer

HL2/CS:S/DoD:S, Unreal 2004 is good online as well.

I have about the same computer specs and that's what I play most.

Call of Duty (and United Offensive expansion) - excellent online play
HL2 - (DM/CS:S/Day of Defeat Source online play)
Painkiller - not a huge online following, but the single player campaign is great. You can pick up the Game of the Year edition now for $20-$30 and this includes the expansion
Far Cry - excellent single player campaign

These two aren't FPS games, but they might perk your interest.

Hearts of Iron 2 - WWII strategy game be any country you want.
Silent Hunter 3 - WWII German submarine game; supoort of this game has already been dropped 7-8 months after release.

This may not work for you, but. Vampire the masquarde bloodlines (its built on an early source build) Has the best atmosphere and story. Yes its an RPG but it becomes very FPS like as you progress. Its single player only but with your new hardware you owe it to yourself to experience the immersion. Im not an RPG nut more of a MMORPG but this game just floored me a year ago and I just keep comming back. I pray that this is a glimpse of the future of puter games. And with all that said it just my opinion, humble as it is. As an aside look at far cry and half life 2. Both are amazing in there own way. Both are single player in them selves but half life 2 has multiplayer spin offs (cs sourse and dod source). Theres a lot of very good games to play and a lot of promice on the horizion. It is a good time to be a puter nerd and as allways IT IS A GOOD DAY TO DIE!!!

Comments made are my opinion.

Out of old games, If you haven't yet, play Quake -amazing game, played it early 2004 and enjoyed it very much. But you have to tweak some things that you can use your mouse, but game rocked. It was so much fun and great level design.

Unreal + Return to Napali expansion rocks if you haven't played it. Great expansive environments with interesting story. The envirnoments are also varied and the game is epic.

Undying if you haven't played it. Interesting story, epic games with some atmosphere.

XIII. Great deep consipracy story. Game is also fun and the comic book graphics make it cooler.

Half-Life. Epic with intersting story.

Doom3 or Half-life2 My Review, some people like one but not the other and vice-versa. I like Doom3, but not Half-life2. Doom3 is great cause you kill many things with the shotgun and the atmosphere is great. Very lengthy game.

FarCry, excellent game. don't play past medium difficulty. Story isn't that great, it's kinda cliche, but the environments are not only rendered beautifully, but they are huge. Very open ended game. Freaky too.

Call of Duty. Basic WWII fps, but with action everywhere.

Chronnicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay.My Review

Return to Castle Wolfenstein. Fun screams out from all directions here. Possibly the best WWII shooter ever.

Thief Deadly Shadows. Amazing story, characters atmosphere. Fun if you like stealthy games.

Medal of Honor: Allied Assault - Great game, could play it over and over, very cinematic. If you want to play expansions, Spearhead is another good one, but I don't recommend any other. The rest suck.
