So like title says whats the oldest Peripherals you have still in use? I know some of you are probably using mechanical keyboards from 1980 that you could also use in a pinch for a blunt weapon for self defence but what else is still keeping up with modern technology? Personally i am still using my Altec Lansing ACS 48 speakers, i have had them for a little over 10 years and they sound awesome, still have not herd a 2.1 set i like better other than the Klipsch Pro media 2.1's but they are not enough better to make me want to upgrade and pay that much. I only paid $78 CAD on sale for my ACS 48's back in 99, got them with my first computer a K6-2 450.

Corkyg I dont believe Wacom Graphire tablet is that OLD like 20 years ago? Not sure what OP meant 10 or more years ago?

Right! The Graphire is only about 4 years old. I still have the first Wacon (serial port) pad and stylus - but - it is sort of retired. I read no timelines in OPs note.

Some of the "old" units are more reliable than their newer replacements.

And, my KLH speakers are over 10 years old. Forgot them! They were a good deal at Costco. The little Radio Shack stereo amp (Optimus SA-155) has not been available for several years. I have three of them. They can be had on E-Bay and Craig's List.

Here's one for you-- I have a ZIP drive on all of my 4 desktops.

No, I don't use them very much but there aren't hurting anything.

OK---stop laughing.

I've got a Connor tape drive, I believe it's a 40 meg sitting in the closet. I fired it up a couple of years ago after finding some tapes in a shoe box. I wanted to see what was so important back then - turned out to be a bunch of WP 5.0 and Quattro Pro files. Also had PKZip, some BBS utilities and shareware (the kind you could buy for on a floppy for $5?) games backed up.

I'm still using the same desktop microphone that I bought at a computer show in the 1980's. It was like $15 and is better then anything else I've seen. People on ventrilo frequently ask me how they can get their mic's to sound as clear as mine.

I still have a 5¼" fd in one rig. Last year was the first year in a long time that someone has not paid me $1 per disk to convert 5¼" disks to 3½" disks.

My 4L just gave up the ghost yesterday. We bought it the month it came out in 1993. I've been through 4 toner replacements. That thing was awesome. The only thing I didn't like about it was the meager 50 sheet input tray.

So far, I think that this is the oldest techology present for duty.

I have a Fujitsu 4GB PATA drive with an April 1999 date code, that works every time I dig it out for Q&D transfer duty, but it is far too small for regular use these days. I have a Mitsumi 3.5" floppy drive with a Jan. 1998 code - hasn't been used much, but works as needed. About the oldest that is still hooked up all the time is my Epson Perfection 1260 Photo scanner is probably the oldest that's still working well.
. One of the above posts reminded me that I still have an LS-120 drive too, but it has not been in service in a while. Got some SCSI drives too - one has a date code on the PCB of 1997. I'm sure they'd work too, if I wanted to bother setting them up, but they are all very small capacity relative to today's standards..

I'd have to go w/ my 12" Powered Altec Lansing Sub circa 1990 something, my dad gave it to me and it does double duty as a night stand so I'm not exactly sure how old it is, although I've had it 10+ years. next oldest still in regular service would would be my Hp laserjet 4000N from 2001 (at least thats when I got it ) I still have an old sony tube Compaq 21" Crt I use on a frequent basis but not on my main rig so doesn't really count

Oldest normal use is my Klipsch Pro media 4.1 400 which I think I got around 2001.

Oldest occasional use is a 14' CRT from 1998 when Im working on a PC on the bench.

Man, I don't have ANYTHING old... my case is new, my optical drive was recently replaced with a SATA model, my old keyboard died so I have a new one, my old speakers died so I have new ones, I have a new monitor... even my mousepad is new! The oldest piece of hardware I still use are my Sennheiser HD497 headphones, which are probably only 4-5 years old.

My brother, on the other hand, has a Compaq keyboard with an "Internet" button. Also it's missing an F3 key.

have another old piece since seeing this post I went looking for - was once of the first 64 CPU from company called NextGen for the desktop market - I was involved in that whole thing back in early 90's... (might have been late 80's)

...AMD bought them out way back - a few from that gig would say that AMD got in-part the K7 technology (came out of many years later).

NextGen was out when just i386 was coming out - it was a x586 133MHz 64bit cpu (and motherboard) that ran dos/windows.

have bunch of old S3 PCI video cards and the sales order from NewEgg when I bought them too.... funny, used them, when upgraded put that back in the box newegg shipped them to me in.

copy of DOS 3 still, also have the board and cpu yet from my old packard bell 1MHz XT - maybe still has some sip memory chips on it.

Some of the old companies way back that could mail order from, like comark, USA Flex, Hard Drives International, Sprite, Memory and More, Infotel, Midwest Micro, and all them companies that comark owned that ended in mall...

...all before NewEgg and ZipZoomFly's (googlegear.com) time'

you know a company that has been around a long time is PCPowerandCooling - used to be nearly 100% women worked there and I think maybe owned way back in the 80's as well.

of course was really something when RLL and SCSI hard Drives came around, no more 5.25" Floppy dirves (3.5" too) - then came the coffee cup holders, or the other name for it, CD ROM Drive.
