On Socialism and Nazis

What is up with the conservative need to deflect from the fact that they have dangerous far right extremists who have carried out multiple terrorist attacks in the US in their midst?

By making up what could be described as fake arguments which in their minds prove that nazis are not trump voters or linked with the republican party but are in fact linked directly with crooked hillary and the democrats.

Because NSDAP has the word socialist in it.

I have seen this same argument used on multiple sites and when people point out to them how wrong they are. Which can be done by simply googling nazi party and then reading the wikipedia article they just keep going. Is this because it is easier for them to create their own version of reality?

The 'Right' has been publicly running away from the Nazis since 1945. Privately (at least for a portion of that same 'Right') it's been a rather different story.

The reason they try to connect neo-Nazis to the left is the same reason they fell for Trump's promises: because they believe people only look at the superficial words, not the context or actual intent.

They seem to forget (or at least, hope that political opponents will forget) that authoritarian movements and governments regularly describe themselves in populist terms that have little connection to reality. Many Jewish people on the left in Israel believe that their stranglehold on Gaza and water rights in the region, as well as settlement building/annexation in the West Bank are against Jewish interests, as I do. And their opposition is nonviolent.
