Good he survived, bad he lost his feet. Reminds of another survival tale, where someone was climbing a mountain and succombed to harsh weather conditions. Evidentally, he was close enough to a cell tower that he received a call from Verizon, asking him if he wanted to add more minutes on his pre-paid cell phone. He told her the situation, and they arranged to send some help. He kept on the phone with her, so she could keep him awake and alive. His phone battery was already low, but remembering that cold helps batteries last, periodically put the battery in the snow, which revived it a bit whenever it started to shut down from lack of juice. He got rescued, obviously, but I don't remember offhand if he had severe frostbite or not.
