One SSD for boot and SRT?

Has anyone tried splitting an SSD into a partition for windows and a partition for SRT on other mechanical drives? I am getting a 60 gig SSD and was planning on splitting it 30/30 if possible. Any idea if it will work?

it can work. It was shown on another site using only part of a SSD for SRT, but as to how effective it is over all, no idea.

The catch is that the SRT needs to be setup before the data partition that will be the home of the OS that you are installing.

If wrong and it can not be done, then I would be very surprised with intel for not having it work.

As to the 60GB SSD for both tasks, I would be going 40 OS/ 20 SSD as 30 for OS is too small. Better to get a larger SSD personally.

Well during the install i was planning to partition of X amount of space and leave it unformatted while formating the other piece and install windows on it. You are saying this will not work? How can you install SRT before you install windows?

I'm under the impression it needs to be setup in the bios first.

if that does not work, then the next option is to install to a spare drive, setup the SRT, then re-install windows.

failing that, then I can only assume intel stuffed up with the system and so their is no option for doing what you want.

I've only read people talking about going down the same path as you want to, I do not expect it to be too complicated, but then it is new tech and intel might not want this to work for some reason.

Thanks for the link. That is some disappointing news. I'll test it out anyway when the new parts come in early next week and report back.
