Downloaded the windows version, seems nice, lots faster than previous StarOffice versions.
With quickstart enabeled, startup times are instantaneous on my box at work(P-III 666 MHz, 512 MB RAM).
I installed the Windows version last night. So far it is pretty impressive. All my Word documents opened perfectly, all my Powerpoint files worked great. The only problem was that Excel files with embedded charts opened but the charts were empty. It's still a giant improvement over the last StarOffice release. I plan to test it quite a bit more and then if all is as good as it seems right now I'm going to start recommending it to my clients who have relatively simple needs and also installing it on new systems I build for sale as a "value added" feature.
I think MS should start worrying - at the rate things are going, a viable Linux installation on the mainstream desktop is maybe a year away. OpenOffice is a key step. Everyone who dislikes MS should install this on their PC and show it to everyone they can.
Ditto -- I went with the .dk servers. Install was quick and it seems snappy and smooth. This will be a great additon for my home machine as I don't want to pay for Office XP there and I'm not into the pirate thing especially with the register/authenticate thigy
