ixelion: Do you have any other reasons aside from Graphic issues?

To me, graphic issues are primarly due to lack of setting adjustment and it could also be your PC setup. What about the GAME ITSELF? Game play, style, missions, controls, story, etc. You said GRAW and other tactical shooters do just as good, but how exactly does it compare?

You know what, f it, I'll just play it myself.

To me, graphic issues are primarly due to lack of setting adjustment and it could also be your PC setup.

The game gets 30FPS with a GTX 260 so it's not my system,

What about the GAME ITSELF? Game play, style, missions, controls, story, etc.

that is the problem with the game (although it gets 80fps with a 5870).

Framerates are crucial for first person shooters, especially in multiplayer. The responsiveness of a shooter at 60FPS cannot be touched by a shooter at 30 FPS, the amount of control and precision you have at 60fps impacts gameplay a great deal.

You haven't given any information as to what resolution you play at or if you've even adjusted the settings besides just cranking up everything to maximum.

This game is not demanding at all, if you set everything to high but shadow maps at the default 1024, you're guaranteed to have excellent frame rates, even on a GTX260 which is by all accounts, a mid priced mainstream video card.

If shadow maps at 1024 doesn't solve your problem, turning AA down from 8x to 4x or 2s will, even at 1900x1200.

If that doesn't I'd start looking at your system for driver issues.

I like the game. I installed the AI mod and it is more challenging now. I mostly bought it for SP/Coop though. There is some mouse lag when the frame rate goes below 100 which is strange. A patch will be out soon and probbaly some DLC. The people that son't like it are expecting too much and patches/mods will fix a bunch of the issues. Maybe not dedicated servers however but even MW2 won't have those.

Two Major problems:
1. There are only 12 campaign missions and a handful of bonus ones.
2. Online play is unacceptable unless you are connecting to real life friends. - There are no dedicated game servers either developer or community run, so as soon as little Toby's mom grounds him from the internet and unplugs his 1.5Mb DSL, everyone in his "game server" drops. It's terrible.

Why these problems don't matter for me, and this is the best game I've played in five years:
1. I love the included mission editor for PC and spend hours making my own scenarios to play both single player and with my RL friends.
2. We host games from high capacity, high upload DSL and Cable connections with no moms involved.

The campaign and bonus missions are only HALF of this game. There are weapons, vehicles, characters, and areas of the game world that you will NEVER see without creating your own missions in the mission editor.

32FPS on a GTX 260, which I find unplayable for a multiplayer shooter. My own system confirms this data.

So if your standards are low enough to accept 30fps then kudos to you sir, have fun. Personally I can't play a shooter like that.

My biggest issue with online play is that every map is a rush to see who gets the sniper gear. After that, nobody seems to play the characters correctly. Medics don't heal, support gunners don't suppress, engineers don't plant mines, heli pilots just crash after two seconds (also noone waits for vehicles to be full).

Also, snipers are the only ones that consistently can get one shot kills. I mean, how many shots from a machine gun can someone take(probably the reason for the above).

It is really frustrating because it could be good, but it just isn't. No team play at all.

Oh and I agree with the above comment that "normal" is too unrealistic, but after that everything is too "realistic" in the sense there is no HUD to display orientation (compass) or rounds left in mag. Something in between where you can't see where people are but you can at least orientate yourself with your surroundings.

For those who don't know, the first patch and DLC (free) is out for PC. None of the big fixes people were hoping for, but I still love this game. We're also starting to see A LOT of good player content coming from the community.

http://community.codemasters.com/forum/showthread.php?t=394871

6. When a building is destroyed any corpses that are within the building are removed, so they are not floating in the air.

7. The inventory UI from the crate or corpse can now be opened correctly when the player is standing at distance.

8. A rare online crash bug has been fixed when the Client is assaulting the fuel depot towards the end of the mission Bleeding Edge

17. In the polish SKU, the apostrophe key is now translated correctly when changing keyboard configuration in the Front end

18. When exiting the credits, the heading will not transition twice.

19. The game has been modified to only use the original data to prevent cheating or hacking by modifying the configuration files.

20. Added script command OFP:setAIConfigPropertyValue to allow mission designers to override the AI configuration values found in the global AIConfig.xml file in user generated missions only.

We are happy to announce that the first Operation Flashpoint®: Dragon Rising downloadable content – the ‘Skirmish’ pack – will be available for PC tomorrow, November 5th, bundled with a title update patch.

Title Updates for the console editions of the game will arrive prior to the launch of the ‘Skirmish’ DLC pack on Xbox LIVE and PSN. The Title Update for the Xbox 360 will be available tomorrow, November 5th, with the Title Update for the PS3 to follow shortly.

The ‘Skirmish’ video, available to view above showcases some of the new content available. Players are shown going head to head in attack helicopters, deploying tanks and APCs and engaging in ranged and close quarters combat in the wide ranging new maps and missions featured in the downloadable content.

The ‘Skirmish’ DLC features four new multiplayer maps and two new Fire Team Engagement (FTE) missions featuring both solo and four player co-operative play. Hunt down SAM launchers hidden in the sprawling complex of ‘Lumberyard’ and assault dug in PLA forces and fight room to room in ‘White Fang’, two tense new ‘Infiltration’ multiplayer maps. ‘Annihilation’ multiplayer maps pitch armour and infantry against each other in rolling battles across a valley in ‘Stomping Grounds’ and in ‘Force Dispersal’ military bases separated by a strategic hill become a close-quarters killing ground.

New FTE missions include ‘All Round Defence’, which places gamers in control of air support and attack helicopters as they defend a fortified complex against relentless waves of PLA. In ‘Uphill Struggle’ players must capture a bunker under heavy fire from hillside reinforcements. Gamers can also recon the entire 220 km² island of Skira alone or co-operatively in a range of vehicles at day or night in ‘Island Tour.’

Tomorrow’s title update/patch will include a range of updates and improvements for the multiplayer and single player modes of the game, and if you’d like to see the full fix lists for each platform check out this thread over at the official OFPDR forums:

The ‘Skirmish’ pack for PC will be free to download.

Yeah I've gotta eat my words on this game too. I've played for about 3-4 hours, and so far it's just plain fun. I'm loving it. The mission editor is fun too, but I'm hoping someone will hack it to allow more assets.

Also, the game runs extremely smoothly on my e6600, 4gb, 8800gt. Not the best looking game, but not too bad.

I played it over LAN this weekend with some friends, it was pretty damn fun! I like how tactical it is, it's fun IMO.

I played through the campaign myself, as well.

But campaign with 3 others on LAN is a huge enjoyment.

MP for this game is pretty much dead. Many people are reporting that the number of servers are so low you can count them on one hand. MW2 which is out tomorrow will be the nail in the coffin for this game. After that I doubt there will be much if any more support from CM.

Sad but true, it was doomed from the start. No dedicated servers + trivially simple cheating = dead MP. Thankfully the best kind of MP in this game is a handful of friends playing Co-op
