opteron 170 temps

I just got a opteron 170 (CCBWE 0550UPMW) and I think it's running kinda hot, 37C-38C idle which is fine but a little warm IMO, but when it loads 100% it goes up to 52C-53C, that's everything in stock. I currently have it priming at 2.4 with stock volts, getting same temps.
I had a 3000+ venice at 2.6 with 1.47v in the same system getting temps of 35C idle and 42C load
My goal with this opty is 2.6 and above but looking at the temps I'm afraid to up the volts, so what do you guys think?

If needed, my system:
Opteron 170 with Thermalright SI-120 HS
MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum - bios 1.B(latest I believe)
Corsair 2x512 3200XL
Antec TruePower II 550

I use MSI's CoreCenter program for temp readings

That seems a little high, especially with a SI-120. You have it seated correctly and everything, right?

I believe so, I put it the same way I did it with my venice. AS5 rice sized on middle of cpu, seated HS on top and hooked.

Well, as long as the temps don't go over 55C you should be fine, but I'd still be interested to see if there is some other reason for your high temps.

That does seem a bit high. I'm running a 170 at 2.6 with 1.55V (probably could run it lower actually, but I don't have much time to mess with it during the week), and mine idles around 35C and loads around 47C. Also running an SI-120 here (with a Thermaltake Smart Case Fan II 120mm). What are your ambient temps like...?

I wouldn't worry too much as long as everything stays under 55C (hell, I'm still used to my old Athlon XP idling at 55C...), but those kind of temps at stock voltage doesn't really seem right at all.

Ambient temp is around 22C-23C, I have 4x80mm fans in my case and a vantec stealth 120mm on the cpu HS at max rpm which is around 1300.

They are high, I got my opti and running at 2.75ghz with 1.52v and idles at 30c and load at 44 dual prime.

I would check the hs mounting and maybe you need a bit more as5, maybe a little air pocket got inthere.

The expert mobos report incorrect temps....beware your temps are higher ..

try less voltage, it can't hurt.

my 170 does 2500 at 1.34V

Running stock voltage so it's around 1.3-1.35 and still I'm getting those crazy temps.

When you put the AS5 on make sure it covers the entire IHS since that actually helps out with the heat (since the IHS distributes heat).

And if temps are still a problem, you could always just remove the IHS.

Oh, and my Opty 175 is running at 250x10@~1.4v.

those temps are factoring the offset reported by a proggy called central brain identifier my offset is -6c, meaning that my expert is reporting 23-24c at idle you add the -6c and whalla 30c at idle same as load temps.
