I'm thinking of going optical. I dont want wireless (currently have a 13.8" viewable monitor and I run it at 1024 x 768) ... to see it I have to be at my desk, so there isnt much of a point in wireless for me). Which mouse would you guys recommend?

Coming from a former boomslang 2000 owner... Logitech mouseman optical. Stay away from the MS explorer.

i have the logitech mouseman wheel optical.
have to say i am not really pleased with its performance in counter strike.
clicking the wheel or thumb button once somehow gets registered as several times in the game....do not know if it is something i overlooked or just part of the game.

also when customizing controls....the wheel and thumb do not register as mouse bottons 3 and 4 like MS ones....i had to ghettofy it.
assign the control to say "ctrl" and assign the mouse button to ctrl in logitech software.

I have had the ms optical and now the logitech iFeel. I like the logitech better, not just because of ifeel(althought that is awesome) but it seems to be quite a bit smoother, and more solid. As for difference in game i couldnt tell alot, the logitech was a bit smoother but i think thats just because the MS opitcal had its feet wearing down. Its pretty much personal preference from my standpoint. But I like the logitechs better.

Logitech Mouseman optical rocks!

best mouse yet.. beats out Boomslang 2K with ease and also MS Intellimouse Optical (which isn't too bad!) but the Logitech is nicer IMHO than both, hands down!!

Logitech and Microsoft are both good companies in term of making the rats but just keep in mind that Logitech drivers suck in Win 2000. In term of hardware, both of them are really good imo.

Since we all seem to be optical mouse experts here, can someone here explain to me how I can fix the problem of my Microsoft Optical Wheel Mouse's "jittering mouse pointer" when the mouse is just sitting still on my desk? I have a normal woodgrain computer desk, I'm sure it must be ok to use with an optical mouse.

If you have the money to spare, i find either MS or Logitech is fine. However, i have used two optical mouses from Dexxa and BTC.. basically no brand names. They perform excellent and IS as smooth as the MS mouse. Not to mention they have more buttons and have software that works fine and is compatible.

So i guess brand names mouses arent necessary anymore. It's not the case of AMD vs Intel for mouses..

Ok, try this - buy the MS inteli-eye its nicer in the hand - but for the love of god don't install the drivers. Use the default drivers for it and it works like a champ.

I use the Logitech Optical Mouse at work but thave the Explorer 3.0 USB at home. I can tell you that hands down the Explorer is the best mouse. It moves alot smoother and feels alot more natural on the hand. I am a big FPS player and have never had a problem with the Explorer losing tracking or being jittery. The only cool thing about the logitech is the WebWheel but the extra buttons on the Explorer more than make up for it.

So am I and can tell you the main difference between Microsoft and Logitech is quality, with Microsoft mice they seem to go faulty pretty quick as for Logitech mice they keep on going like a Duracell battery on steroids .

I game a lot and have no problems period with my Logitech Optical Mouseman Wheel in USB mode with fast games like Q3TA etc.

You have the quality thing backwards though. The Logitech mouse feels more like a toy than a mouse. Where as the Explorer feels like a solid reliable piece of electronics. I bet my Explorer will outlast my Logitech and I don't use my mouse for gaming at work....

My sig being true or not? Give me another hundred years and i'll see..

Frankly, in theory it would work to help you stay healthy.. as to living forever, doubtfull. Immortality is influenced in the cellular level and dna as well.. anyone who studies biotech at a uni level will know cell replication isnt 100% perfect, over time, over many generations of replications, our cells degenerate.

btw, my Dexxa optical mouse is still kicking after almost 2 years.. the buttons are worn, the mouse paint on the buttons are all gone from wear.. my palm is permanently etched on the mouse. LOL But it still works fine!! It was around 1/3 the price of the MS optical when i got it..

Which Logitech mouse has the blue light? I heard it still uses a red for actual eye calculations, but that the blue is for looks.
