So last thursday I ordered a 165 from monarch. Got it in yesterday and have been playing around. Currently at 3006mhz @ 1.44 volts. Stepping is CCBBE 0610DPMW.

Now I am up to 3 hours prime stable but the screenshot is from like 20 mins in or so. Enjoy

Nice overclock. Looks like Monarch is still carrying that excellent stepping. I got the same one about a month ago, although mine seems to be relatively crappy (struggles to get anywhere beyond 2.9 with 1.5V; I have it set to 2.85 at 1.425V for normal usage).

Yeah only 2.85Ghz out of your stock 1.8Ghz dual core Opty.

A measly 1Ghz overclock. A lame-arse OVER-50% overclock. Give me a moment please while I shed a tear for you.

Which is why I said "relatively." At 2.85ghz I'm hardly complaining, but most other people with this stepping generally get in the 2.95-3ghz range without much more voltage.

Well I've seen a lot of people posting screens of speeds over 2.85Ghz, what I HAVEN'T seen is a lot of people posting 10+ hr dual-Prime 95 benches, memtest pictures, and a good selection of 3d benches/apps and other stress tests (OCCT, SuperPi) to PROVE they are stable at those speeds.

Plenty of people want to claim they can do 3Ghz with their Opty - it was the same with the Venice - but few, VERY few, actually had/have stability at those speeds.

If you really are stable at 2.85 - then that's highly impressive (especially the fact that it cost you $300 for a yet-to-be-released FX-62+ - FX63?) and I wouldn't let any fool who can snap a CPU-Z screen at 3-3.2Ghz rain on your parade. Frankly, I see few posters even at Xtreme Systems forums posting anything at all in the category of stability testing proof, and most of them consider an hour or two of Prime95 stable. If that were the case, my Venice would be clocked at 2.8 instead of 2.6, but I went over to DFI-Street forums and got some real good advice on taking the risks out of running a serious stable overclock. I ran their gauntlet of stress testing, and anyone who wants to claim an actual stable overclock should meet those standards (imo).

I think I'm going to throw up.

I'm going to the Monarch website now.

I know the odds are long, but did you happen to snap a photo of the chip before you installed it? curious about batch # you got, and whether the chip is a "T" or an "N" since you're on water. thanx.

Great result; gratz. 3.0Ghz is impressive.

I didn't say it wasn't possible, just that it is not common. Water cooling also isn't common, but I have no doubt it's helping you hit 3.0Ghz.

As it relates to CP5670, I guess a suggestion for him to hit 3.0Ghz or faster would be to invest in a decent water setup.

Did you build custom, or get a pre-configured setup from somewhere? I've been looking at putting one together myself, but all funds are currently being saved for an HP L2335. Once I get that, I'll start working on the rest of the rig again; water and an Opty 165 being on my short list. Err, and a 7900GT. Ok, so my new hardware list is not really that short.

Besides the water setup details, what temps are getting on that load? Under 40C?

Everyone can hate me for it but no, I was excited to hurry up and get it in i passed the photo shoot of it sorry.

As for parts of the Watercooling setup.

DD TDX Cpu Block
DD NV78 Gpu Block
Hydor L35 Pump
DD Black Ice Duel 80mm Rad
All 1/2 ID

Temps with full load on vid card and both cores, cpu sits at a max of 44 to 45C

Also Might be helping is I have the org Coolmaster Stacker with this fan blowing over the ram and Power Reg Heatsinks.

Cross Flow Fan for Stacker Case

As to CP5670 What is your HTT Multi. For 334 FSB I used 2.5

Currently playing Ut2004 and switching back and forth from FEAR with 2 primes still going in background with 0 problems.

Here's a link for my 165 100% stable at 3025MHz. Dual Prime95 x 12 hrs., 3dMark2001, 03, 05, 06, dual Super_Pi and OCCT. About as much stability testing as I can do.

Yeah, I guess there is no real standard for stability testing these things. I personally use 12 hours of dual SP2004 with small FFTs and six hours of memtest loops. I'm actually pretty satisfied with my current 2.85 overclock (for only $270 in fact, using the Monarch coupons), although it might be worth trying a lower multiplier, which strangely gave me a significant increase on the 146 I was previously using (it topped out at 2.8ghz with 10x but hits 3ghz using 9x or 8x).

My temperatures look good at 42C maximum load (and about 46C at 2.9ghz with 1.5V), so I may have just run into the chip's limit.

Sounds like a great setup. I have the same case but not the crossflow fan. I have instead just rigged up two extra 120mm fans in the drive bays using zipties, which span most of the length of the motherboard.

My HTT multiplier is 3 (the processor is at 9x317), so there shouldn't be any issues with that.

I also got a Opty 165 CCBBE 0610 DPMW stepping from Monarch ($270 with coupon) a couple of weeks ago, but I can only do 275x9=2475 on my crappy A8N-SLI mobo because this mobo can't go over 275 FSB (piece of sh!te doesn't even POST). Alas, tomorrow I'm getting my new DFI SLI-DR Expert board, and hoping to be able to reach 3GHz with the opty.

Nice setup. The Black Ice II is what I was looking at myself. 1/2 in tubing also. Those are good temps, especially with the GPU included. I was going to start with just the CPU first till I got the hang of it. It's still a couple months out, but we'll see.

I have settled on the Whitewater block though. Hopefully someone will have one in stock when I'm ready.

I've got a couple Panaflo 80mm for intake and exhaust hooked up to a Vantec fan controller in my oldschool Antec 1060 tower - keeps my case temps only a couple degrees above room temp. I've got a 92mm Panaflo that I was going to use - but installing the two 80mms did so much (got me to my 2.6Ghz OC), that I never bothered to hook it up.

Maybe you need to look back a few posts where the OP posted his system details, saying it was watercooled.

My SLI-DR expert board is coming any minute...I have the same stepping and will use Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 Pro HSF - hoping for at leat 2.9 GHz on air
