This project is kind of a "usage stats" project more than anything! It tracks the number of keystrokes you make, and there is the ability to join Anandtech (which I've just set up) and see who can do the most keystrokes.

The client has been updated to deal better with cheaters, which was a small problem in the past.

I'm about to install this on all my computers here, and also go make a post about it over on OT! If we can get the OT crowd to use it, then we'll be sure to rise up the ranks quickly!

My post in OT:

Project Orca is a small, unobtrusive program, which logs the number of keystrokes you make, and uploads this number to the server, where you can get stats on the amount of keystrokes you make!

Many other forums have set up Teams for this, but I feel that with the amount of members here in AT, we can make a huge impact on this project!

It is very simple to install, and uses just a couple of MBs of RAM. To join up on the Anandtech team, please visit the homepage, register, and download the client. Once installed, you will need to change the Pulse Server Name to http://www.project-orca.net/ (the trailing / is important) from the Program Settings menu when you right click on it in the Task Bar

Once you have done all this, go to the Account link on the side, and join Anandtech, by clicking on the join next to the name

Lets show these other forums that Anandtech cannot be beaten!

it counts how much you type

Hmm - so there isn't any scientific reasons for this?
Maybe i'm just a tad confused but what would posses anyone to create and then revive a project such as this? I don't mean to bash the project - merely question the intention? So I install it and it counts my keystrokes? that is it? Sorry I just figured there should have been "more" to it than that.

So does this mean I can sit here, watch Star Trek, tap the keyboard and get stats? :Q

It does sound kinda silly, but if it doesn't take any resources, I'll take a look.

Edit: Also, how can we be sure it won't also upload, say, our passwords when we type them?
