My Ti 200 can play just about any game out there (barring far cry which in my opinion is too cartoony). If you can find one i coudn't agree more. buy it.

Or if you want to spend a little more money, the sapphire 9600pro is a good deal or even an XT for like 144 on newegg last i saw.

This guy lives in India. His father will be staying in the US for a week. More than likely he's not going to be ordering anything in the mail. He needs a card that's sold in a major retail store chain.

Ti4200 and 9100 is not available at major retail stores anymore. Both are discontinued. It's tough enough to find 9600 Pro in retail stores like BestBuy, CircuitCity, and CompUSSR anymore. None of these stores even list 9600 Pro on their website anymore.

If OP's father can order online while here in the US and can receive the package in time to take it back, he has lot more options.

and lemme guess, you bought a 9800 pro and still couldn't play Halo with all the eye candy, right?

man that game is poorly optimized for PC...sucks because it was a truly awesome game when it came out.

Why isn't Halo 2 coming out for PC, that's what I'd like to know...No offense to console gamers, but FPS is just better with mouse and keyboard.

To the OP: How many days is your dad coming to the US for? Because Newegg has pretty fast shipping...also, the 9600pro may be slower than the 9500pro, but it's not THAT much slower and you can pick one up for ~$140 at newegg.

Depends on how much money we're talking about here. The fact that they are readily available makes it more appealing than a 4200 to the average shopper.

Well the fact that the 5200 sucks makes it totally unappealing. Get the 4200.

For a week, 1 day up 6 to go. Can you tell me which of the above radeon 9600pro's are better.

oye abhnav tum eik 9800 pro kyun nahi khareedtay? yaar aur sab eik saal mein purhanay ho jayengay ... $200 tyte card kay liye kafi acha bhau hai. warna ti4200 kharred letay mager eik haftay say zyadah lagayga. 9600 purana ho gaya. nai game nahi khelega. laikin 9600 $100 mein achy deal hai. karachi mein 9000 ka milta hai. India mein bhi 7000 say kum nahi hoga

Don't laugh but I have a FX5200/128 in one of my machines....and it is FAR better than the GF440MX....sure it slow COMPARED to newer cards...but do you lot play games or just play games with each other (WGAF about frame rates and "scores" in the REAL WORLD out of the school playground)?

Seriously though if you can't get a higher spec board for the money available do NOT WORRY...a FX5200 will be fine for 95% of ALL GAMES YET RELEASED ON THE PC MARKET in the last few years..........

Games Played on FX5200
VIETCONG
SOF 1 + 2
NOLF 1 + 2 + 3(CJ)
PAIN KILLER
CALL OF DUTY
HALO (800 X 600 and STILL SLLlooooowww)
FARCRY (Plays OK at 800 X 600 OK)
MIDNIGHT NOWHERE
MOH (various)
KOTOR (a bit jerky sometimes)
RTCW
QUAKE 1+2+3
UNREAL 2
PRINCE OF PERSIA
SERIOUS SAM 1 + 2
THE THING
HITMAN 2
BROKEN SWORD 3 (TSD)
and a lot more...there just the ones I can see as I sit typing.

So a good selection there of games new and old and only problems with 3 games.....one of which, HALO, is more down to it being piz-poor anyway.

So if you cant get a higher spec card for the same wonga get one (just remember you will lose detail in some NOT all games)......s'funny how no-one has asked what games you are going to play......but then again if your daft enough to buy new hardware just to play a new game (like the FC crew....ooooohhhh that makes FC a *bargain* then doesn't it...............#laced with the best Britsh sarcasm) then what answers do you expect from a bunch of clowns?

no point getting anything less than Fx5200. His father aint gonna visit the states everyday is he? So with HL2 and Doom3 around the corner, best bet would be 9800pro. Itll last him 2 year IMO.

I disagree strongly with the FX5200's, I dislike Nvidia nowadays for releasing so many of these junk cards. I say go at least 9600 pro or up, ti4200 isn't bad, both are around $100 -$120 or so. A 9800 SE isn't bad, performs about the same as the 9600 pro and has the potential to be softmodded to a 9800 PRO for only around $150 shipped. basically gambling about 30-35 bucks to possibly get a 9800 pro about 50-60 bucks cheaper. Either way I'd go newegg (2 day shipping w/fedex usually is free). Remember if you go with the Ti you won't have Native DX9 support but much faster DX8.1 than the 9600s (all depends on the games you want to play with it). Good Luck!

im from mumbai india, and i got a 9500 pro over a year back, am getting a 9800p now and selling off the 9500p.
anyhow, your best bet to buy stuff in store would be a non-pro *non-se* 9600, seeing as you want a store-buy..else id too recommend the 9100 or 8500 or ti4200.
but its also important where your dad is staying, which city, coz if hes in ca/ny/nj there are some stores there where you can phone in your order and they will deliver within 4-5 days...speak to them and confirm.
good luck my man!

intnl. shipping for him would be a problem because:
a] sellers might be choosy and it might just be risky to pay and end up waiting for a card to never arrive after 2 months. i have lost bday cards in the mail from us-india, and letters from here to philadelphia take 2 months to reach.
b] intl shipping might be expensive.
c] if he is slapped high custom import duties then itd make even less sense.

If I were you I'd go to the For Sale section, search for "9500". There's a few people there selling 9500 pros, which are faster than 9600pros. Offer them like $10 over what they're asking if they give you 2nd-day shipping. There ya go.

I guess living in American I take a lot for granted. I can't imagine going to the store and NOT being able to buy what I want, even if I have the money.
