okay I might give it a shot then. I cant believe I ever played the second one but ignored the first one. hopefully there are some mods to at least improve the graphics a little bit though. The gameplay was far superior, imo. Graphics are severely outdated, but the gameplay is spectacular.
I have the AvP2 that includes the Primal Hunt expansion if thats what you are talking about.I have the AvP Gold boxed edition (and currently playing). Its pretty hard on Director's Cut. Both the engine's age and some wierd anomalies piss me off sometimes because it does what you dont expect it to do.
Overall, AWESOME game especially the Alien part.
I am currently looking for AvP2 Gold Boxed complete if anyone has it, ill take it for the right price, haha.

some old games are just crazy fast compared to modern games. I have tried to go back and play HL1 but every movement is just so abrupt that its just not very enjoyable to play. I think I will skip this game because of that too.Bought it to be able to play it again.
However, it's nowhere near as entertaining as I remember. It's still evilly hard, and still impossible to see - both of which I remembered. However, the entire game is ludicrously fast. I'm not talking about the alien either - the marine moves like he's a kenyan champion runner on coke.
Something equivalent to slomo .85 is desperately needed. Right now only the original UT is faster.

I cant get the audio to work correctly because some sounds keep cutting out.
EDIT: well I fixed it by using Alchemy for the game. not only did it fix the cutting out music it enabled sounds that was not even getting before.
yeah I think I had only used it for Timeshift and that was a while back. in fact i didnt even have installed but figured I would at least give it try. all I did was go to the games folder under Steam and copy and paste in the "game path" under settings and then just added it to Alchemy enable games. I was really surprised that it worked and I just left the buffers, duration and max voice count at the stock values because I had no idea what else to do with them. anyway its all good for now so hopefully no more sound issues.Hmmm, maybe it's a bug only related to Windows 7, because I'm on Vista x64 and I don't have issues with the sound by default, also ALchemy does not detect AvP automatically, but maybe that's because it's installed in Steam and not under the default retail installation path, or perhaps it's related to differently placed registry entries. It's a good thing however to have thought about ALchemy, I completely forgot about that one, so if I ever experience sound issues I'll certainly try ALchemy, thanks for remind me about it hehe.
Updates to Aliens vs. Predator Classic 2000 have been released. The updates will be applied automatically when your Steam client is restarted. The major changes include:
Aliens vs. Predator Classic 2000:
Proper widescreen support. Previously the game allowed non-4:3 video modes (e.g. 1920x1080) but just rendered a stretched 4:3 image. Now the game renders at the correct aspect ratio (e.g. 5:4, 16:9, 16:10), with the vertical field-of-view remaining fixed and the horizontal field-of-view changing accordingly. (i.e. 16:9 modes now render more to the sides than a 4:3 mode).
By popular demand, added an â-unlimitedsavesâ command line option. By launching the game with -unlimitedsaves in the command line, players can now save as many times as they like, rather than being restricted to a set number of saves per level. To set your command line options, please right-click on the game in Steamâs âMy gamesâ browser and select âPropertiesâ and then âSet Launch Optionsâ¦â. Alternatively you can edit the command line options directly if you are using a shortcut to the game exe.
Replaced timer code with a new high-resolution version for improved accuracy.
Frame-rate now locks to a maximum of 120 to fix gameplay issues when running at very high rates (e.g. when vsync is disabled).
Mouse sensitivity/accuracy improvements for mice with a high poll rate.
Fix for invalid characters in device name in video resolution menu causing rendering problems.
Fix for crash on machines without a sound card / where the sound drivers are invalid. (Game will now run correctly with no sound.)
AvP was a horrible game! AvP2 certainly made up for it. I won't spend money on AvP, but if AvP2 comes out I might pick it up
