OK, I'm a n00b when it comes to console games. The last console I owned was a SNES back in the day - I've been sticking with PC games the last few years. A couple of weeks ago, though, my brother gave me his original XBox (NOTE: not a 360, just a plain ol' XBox) and a stack of games. I've got it on my home network and it reports that all connections are good. On a PC, I've created an XBox Live Silver account (the free one), but I'm having problems using it on the XBox. When I try to connect either thru the console itself or thru a game, it gives me two options: to create an account, or to recover one. If I choose to create one, it asks for a subscription code, which I don't have since all my games are used. If I try to recover, it asks for credit card info associated with my account, but since it's a free account I haven't associated a CC.
My questions:
1. Can a current Silver account be used on an old XBox, or do the old XBoxes only support subscription-based accounts?
2. If a Silver account can be used, how do I do it?
