Played online with a bunch of user names, all ended up duplicated except the longer form of what I use now. I think I started to like 'Imp' when guild mates in WoW started calling me that. Oh, and I'm short in real life, which seems somewhat related to an imp.

nickname that started among friends years ago spawned from a good autobiographical metaphor

I just thought that was too pompous, so i spent an afternoon of how to use it, but not. Came up with AmpedSilence.

Sorry, couldn't help it.

Lola

It is my street name.

Actually, no, my name came from a play I did when I was in high school. The musical was Damn Yankee's. There was a character named Lola. She was a feisty gal and after playing her, the nickname stuck.

It is my "alter ego"

I have really large hands. I was considering just using Hands but decided to put 40 in there. I've been known to play Edward forty hands like a champ. Although, I haven't played that game in years.

Lola: Sounds a bit like Lessa of the Dragonriders of Pern series of books. If that name was not so commonly used, I would use it here and there, but every place I have thought to try it it has been taken.

languages don't die, they evolve. The only way a language dies is that if the entire population that speaks it dies.

MTG card.

Been thinking of changing it to Rusty Shackleford lately though (alias used by Dale Gribble in King of the Hill)

Years back, a girl I was chatting with showed up with the handle "naked monkey with a hammer" (apparently some radio DJ was doing a thing where you had to call him and say that to win a prize), so I changed my handle to "naked frog with a mallet" and it stuck. The full handle was too long to use here. I've been using it for nearly ten years now.

From the movie Catch 22 and later Full Metal Jacket. A Section 8 refers to someone in the military who is mentally unfit for service. However, if you refer to yourself as a Section 8 you cannot be crazy and are therefore fit for duty. Alternatively, if you want to go into battle you are nuts and if you want to avoid it you are sane. Thus the Catch 22. I have used this handle since the early days of FPS. I kind of like the "Leroy Jenkins" approach.
