OS for gaming question

Hey, I have had ME, 2K, and XP ... I was wondering why XP runs so much smoother in game play (Doesn't load as fast as the 2, but video smoothness is a considerable amout faster)

I was wondering if anyone knows why this is so, or maybe if there is a fix for it.... I like the feel and looks of XP, didn't care too much for 2K and ME was OK other than crashing lot

You think ME is best for gaming? Out of those 3, I HATE WIN 98!

Well, I read somewhere that XP defaults to locking you at 60FPS. If that is the case, and your hardware is good enough to keep you above that, it may just seem faster/smoother to you because it isn't fluctuatiing.

What kind of games do you play - if have a whole slew of old DOS games (like me) in addition to the new ones in your gaming library, dual boot with W9x/W2K or in your case WinME/W2K or XP. Also depends on your hardware - I kinda like 'old' A3D/Vortex2 enabled games like QIII, HL, Heretic 2 and since some of the functionalities of A3D are not in W2K/XP, I go W98 on 'em.
On the RTS games like the AOE series, etc., I go W2K.
