OS Install & Drive partition

I have a non-partitioned 30GB HD running Win98SE. I have tons of games and other software installed. I am planning to install XP Home Upgrade.

I know that I can just run the install and "upgrade" my OS. Hopefully there'll be no compatibility problems.

HOWEVER...

Does it make sense to partition my drive? If so, will I have issues with my other software running on the new OS? What partitions would you recommend?

5 gig? Xp install is like 1 gig. And I think Partition Magic lets you repartition without having to reinstall software and stuff...not to sure tho

I am new to partitioning. Would I create a new 2GB partition (plenty of extra room) just for the OS and leave the "C" drive as is? What happens to the WIN98 files?

As far as I know if you use Partition Magic and make a partition the OS and all installed programs stay together. Like... if you have MP3's or digital photos or files that aren't installed to Win98, you can move them to the new partition. If you are going to use the upgrade version not sure what will happen. I did a clean install on mine. Although if you have enough HD space you could create a new partition and install XP there and have a dual boot system. Assuming you have a full version of XP that is.
