Outlook 2003 + Hotmail

I just started using Outlook 2003 to read my Hotmail. I have tried so many things and I can't get it to download mail automatically. I have it set up to send/receive on the Hotmail account (the only one I have set up in Outlook) every minute. I see it send/receiving every minute, but it doesn't actually receive anything. I can send myself a test message, watch it send/receive a minute later, but nothing comes through. I then click the send/receive button and my test e-mail appears.

Does anyone have this setup working? And if so, how?

Thanks.

If no one knows, could anyone point me in the direction of a forum that would be better suited to answer my question? Thanks.

I use a program called hotpopper in outlook 2003 which you turn your pc into a pop server so you don't have to putz with hotmail in outlook. in outlook xp, it was a really odd interface with outlook, real slow

shouldn't need hotpopper to retrieve emails from hotmail through MS software. I use hotpopper w/ thunderbird =D

OP - look through the MS Knowledge Base or similar.

Knowledge base doesn't seem to have anything about it. C'mon, there must be someone here who uses Hotmail with Outlook 2003.

Someone commented on another forum that Outlook only resyncs every at most every 30 minutes regardless of send/receive frequency. Email sending *does* respect that setting however...

"So as not to place an undue burden on the Hotmail DAV servers, Outlook will not do automatic synchs of Hotmail accounts more frequently than every 30 minutes. A user-initiated action (changing folders or pressing F9) will cause an immediate synch, though."

PM me...

If ya use outlook nativly it won;t let you receive your hotmail into a regular inbox, it makes a completly seperate folder that you can't apply rules to. and its not a typical oultlook interface, some stupid html hotmail thing. If Hotmail had regular pop access you wouldn't need hotpopper, but they don't

You can use Outlook Express to auto download your hotmail e-mail. I'll have to test it out with Outlook 2003.

I think what I'm going to do is use an app that forwards my Hotmail to my POP e-mail account, so I can just use a POP account in Outlook 2003, but still get my Hotmails through there. Thanks for the help guys.

I get 3 different hotmail accounts in Outlook 2003 and it works ok.

The only thing I don't like about it is that it seems to not want to sync
unless I click on the hotmail folder.

It has a hotmail folder with Outlook 2003 too but I have no idea if it has a purpose
cause mine made their own folders.
