Outlook Express problem

I'm using Win2k and have two partitions on my hard drive. My C: drive was getting full so I decided to clear some of it up by moving my Outlook Express stuff to D:, which includes inbox.dbx, sent items.dbx, etc.

So I moved them over, and when I opened Outlook Express there was obviously nothing in my inbox and other folders. So I went to inmport messages, and pointed Outlook to the new directory in which I put the file. I get all my deleted Items, but no Sent Items, and in my Inbox it only goes back to three months ago..and doesn't have the "Account Info" (I use 3 e-mail accounts.)

What can I do?

bold boy (hehe, *snickers*), you do realize that when you import the messages from D: you're still gonna recreate them inbox.dbx, etc. in your original folder. Unless you've changed the OE folder setting in the Registry, OE will still point to your original folder in C: drive to store the .dbx files.

Okay so I got my messages back..but only by copying back to its original folder.

How can I actually move them?

It's tough to find it in the Registry..

Outlook Express is such a bitch about importing mail settings. They made it so difficult.

Try this.

Tools > Options > Maintenance Tab >
"Click Store Folder to change the location of your message store."
Then browse to your D: drive and the folder where you want to store them.

Does this sound right?

Did you EXPORT them first or simply move the data files?

Export them, then change the folder as described above, then import them.

Rule number 1. Don't use outlook express. It is by far the worst email program that was ever created. The origins of this email program are enough to understand why such an application is so crappy.

Do yourself a favor, get Eudora. You'll be in a safer world.

Using Outlook 2000 over Outlook Express X is highly recommended.

Coincidentally, I am currently using OE 6.
