Just wondering what temperature on load do you people have your bartons running at , overclocked?

Edit: How far do user's get on stock voltages?

Thanks txxxx

I would like to know as well, just ordered my retail Barton 2500+ from newegg.com.
I am hoping to get 2ghz with stock heatsink and fan (I hear they are decent quality now) and stay under 45c.

I don't remember the week of the cpu, but I'm at 44c running prime @2250 1.75V witha slk800A/panaflo fan.

I'm seeing a good amount of people getting 200mhz fsb with a multi of 11 (2200mhz) at default voltage, I think this is about what you should expect if you buy a new 2500+ barton, can't comment on the temps though as I don't have one.

I was thinking about that level too, I dont want to go too excessive.

Question is - how are the latest batch doing? I guess as with many AMD processors, the more time, the better the core's maturity, the more stable at higher speeds.

Mine is a week 15 and is doing 11x200 for 2.2ghz at 1.7 volts. My peak temps at load are 41c. I'm using a slk-800 with a YS-Tech variable.

Don't what week, but I bought mine 3 weeks ago ... running at 166x12.5 = 2.075 at 1.7V (which my Asus A7N8X actually overvolts to 1.75). Idle temps are about 36, sustained peak load 41 with a Vantec Aeroflow cooler.

Anyone care to post their results hitting 2ghz (with fsb of 166 to 200) with just stock heatsink and fan? I am not going to stick my slk800 on this chip so need to know numbers with retail kit.

Also, of the people who have posted or intend to post please put your ram as well

I was not able to OC my barton with the retail HSF. On a hot day (80-85 degrees) the HSF it came with could hardly keep it under 60c with the case open! Thats at stock speeds. I had to refit the HSF unit and added so compound and got it to stay in the 48c range to 55c when loaded. Even so, 55c is to high to OC.

Hmm, sounds like you had a bad install of the heatsink. That is a lot higher than I have ever seen posted for the retail setup.

I re-installed it plenty of times. Maybe Im just getting a faulty reading from the mobo. I doubt it though, I'm not the only one who had these temps with a retail HSF with a hot AMD core.

Could it be the monitor on your Soltek? Also, what was your ambient temp? If it was actually 80 to 85 in the area of your PC then those temps are about right I would day.

Actually I'm having some interesting issues with heat.

I am using a 2500+ bar (retail HSF) from newegg & the asus a7n8x deluxe

Ram isn't an issue - picked up a stick of 512m corsair xms 3500 ddr.

If I set the jumper to fsb200, It will boot at 11x200 + ddr running at 200(400) Mhz at the stock voltage (1.65)

This set up will NOT last more then a minute under Prime95 (which is a let down )
Temeratures in this situation are about 59c under full load.

The next situation I tried was setting the jumper back to the 133/166 fsb speed and then tweaking the bios to run the cpu at 190 fsb. the clock remains 11x190 and the ram runs flawlessly at 190(380)Mhz. Voltage remained at 1.65

I can run Prime95 for hours - and it hasn't failed yet (about 24 hours testing so far)

The problem is the Temperature from Asus Probe - it peaked around 68C !

I'm hoping that one of the issues is the way the cpu and psu are seated at the moment - I'm waiting on a new case and I hope it drops the temperature.

I have to wonder if pushing the fsb to 190 is worth the added heat, and although I don't want to, I may have to step back to a fsb of 166 and play with the clock multiplier.

The cpu will not boot at 200x10 btw, as I think I'd have to unlock the chip

Tesser-

The retail heatsink *IS NOT*sufficient for oc'ing of that level, get an SLK800 or Thermalright AX-7 (only 17 bucks) and you should be able to hit 2.2ghz.

I'm with BD231... running a Barton 2800+ here with the Thermalright SLK800U, with a Vantec TMD fan. 11x200 and temps are 40c idle & 45c under load. Am a real fan of the SLK800 now for certain.

How many CFM does the fan transfer?

The TMD fan is off a Vantec Aeroflow cooler, a good cooler in it's own right.
Fan Size: 70x70x15mm.
Fan Speed: 5600 RPM.
Air Flow: 35.5 CFM.
Noise Level: 38.0 dBA

The fan is made by YS-Tech I believe, wish they'd make more of a variety with standard fittings. The SLK800U had a smaller wire bracket for the TMD fans. So it fits great and creates precious little noise.

Just set-up my system

A7N8X Deluxe 1005 bios
Barton 2500 week 19
Corsair XMS PC3200

Running stable at 11X205 at 1.75 (might be overvolting to 1.8 yikes!) which is about a XP3300 rating. 3DM2k1 and Prime95 solid. Temps max-out around 47, idle around 39.

This bargain set-up (with the $29.00 WD 120G SE 8M AR from OfficeMax last week) is the best bang for buck I've had yet. The sound on the A7N8X is awesome.

Wow...I've been planning on building a setup just like these, but I don't know if I can spare the money. It sounds like they are awesome performers though. I was hoping to stay under $500 total, but now it looks like I'll need $300 for just the Mobo, CPU, and RAM. Add in a $50 case and $150 video card, and I'm already at $500 without a harddrive. I got in on the last two awesome hard drive deals, but they need to be sold for cash. Eh, maybe by the end of summer the prices will drop.

I have mine running at 2800+ spec (2083mhz) @ stock voltage using a thermaltake volcano 10+. Temp is about 40-45C. With the stock cooler it was up around 50C. I don't want to push it too much just yet. I'm somewhat estimating the temps, as my MSI board doesn't read temps correctly (1st bios was ~10 to high, this one is ~7-10 too low). Reading 35C in bios.
