overclocking Dell's

I'm just wondering if anyone knows how to overclock Dell Optiplex 745 workstations. I know the default BIOS won't allow any changes but I seemed to remember reading somewhere that you can flash the BIOS with added features which will allow you to OC.

Much appreciated if anyone can post the link(s) on these BIOS.

Is there another way to OC without going to BIOS? Maybe through a software?

idk about a bios flash but have you tried clockgen?

I'm looking at it as we speak but I can't find the PLL info on my Dell Optiplex 745. Any idea?

You can check to see who is the manufacturer of the motherboard, and see if they have a full version of the BIOS on their website.

yea download everest of sandra to see the model number of the motherboard. then do as prince said.

I wouldn't suggest flashing the bios. It could affect your warranty. If you want to overclock, Dell is coming out with a special overclocking gaming system, but it won't be cheap. You'd be better off building your own if you really want to overclock.

I wouldnt even try to overclock it. It is probably made of components that arent made to be overclocked. Plus, Dell generally uses the smallest possible PSU for their systems, so I wouldnt expect to get much without buying a new one.

There's a decent thread here on OCing the E521 using ClockGen... people have had good success getting 20% more from their system. I'm not sure about your Optiplex. As far as the PSU, people report putting in power-hungry video cards with no problem in their E521 on the 305W PSU it comes with. Again, I don't know about the Optiplex.
