overclocking from windows?

i've been meaning to try that program ClockGen for overclocking since i don't need to have the system always oc'd,but i'm wondering how safe it is to switch the vcore and fsb in windows?any chance of hardware damage or corruption?

its safer to do it from windows.

because if it doesn't work then your computer will lock up rather than getting a corrupted windows by trying to run at a speed your processor can't handle...

in terms of changing the voltage through windows... i've never done that before...

i just set it higher in the bios and then try to adjust the fsb in windows.

As far I remember none of the Windows ocing tools was able to change the FSB divider. This automatically means that you won't be able to make bigger OC's from within Windows. However, since most mobos now have the possibility to lock the AGP & PCI, only the RAM settings would be your limit (e.g. if you raise the FSB from 200 to 220 if your RAM can't handle it you would hit the wall).

It's a bit weird at first, but the only way to overclock my laptop is through Windows .

Has anyone here used ABIT's Uguru software to overclock from Windows? I am getting an ABIT board soon with this and was wondering how well it works. I have used Gigabyte's EasyTune and it really sucked....

I've been using ClockGen for more than a year, and I haven't had to reset my cmos since.
