Overclocking non-K Haswell?

So has any site tested performance of th new dividers on Bclock .
Meaning if we set a lower multiplier with 125bclock and memory is 1600 against equal total clocked with 100 bus and memory OC to 1600*1.25 .
Is there any performance advantage or lose because divider is not 1:1 .

Intel is pretty lame. Taking out the limited extra turbo bin unlocking, and limiting BCLK unlocking to "K" SKUs, when they also have an unlocked multi.

So much for Haswell being an overclocker's chip.

That's my feeling exactly.

It was clear that Haswell wasn't going to give any big ipc improvement for non avx2 programs, but they promised bclk unlocking so many times and now they give it only to the chips with the least need of it.

The return of i3 overclocking was the most exciting thing about the haswel launch since they'd use the 167mhz bclk easily with 5ghz frequencies thanks to lower core count and smaller cache.

The most infuriating thing is that it's a clear marketing ploy and "enthusiasts" are falling for it in droves.

The days when x86 will no longer be the only choice for desktop computing can't come soon enough.

I just bought an i5-4570 and can confirm overclocking by multiplier and strap is not available. All I can do it force max turbo on all cores (3.6), and bump the bclk up a few percent, bringing me to 3.7...

Underclocking (both CPU and GPU) and undervolting seem to be open though. RAM clocks are unlocked.

Hi, sorry for bringing back an old thread but regarding the max turbo.. How did you force max turbo on the cores? Are you on a Z or a H mobo?

you can't force 1c turbo for 4c load, it just doesn't work
the only thing you can do is bclk OC (without straps)

Lookup MCE, Enhanced Turbo, etc.

Just bought Haswell laptop with mobile i7-4700MQ and it supports 2 extra bins over standard.

Hwinfo32 can be used to check if a CPU supports extra bins.
