Overclocking question

First I just wanted to say I have been reading these boards for a few months and you guys pretty much rock. Secondly I wanted to give my background before the actual question. I have built 2 systems ( both AMD) over the last 3 years and upgraded numerous. I have already made some of the pretty newb mistakes and I have fried a video card, cpu, mobo, and even RAM. So I think I have these out of my system and I really wanted to learn and try a few new things. Before I spend the bucks and build a new AMD 64 system I wanted to experiment overclocking my old one. (with my track record it should be obvious as to why)

I would like to see if I can push my cpu to 2.0 ghz. I just want everyones input/recommendations. Here is the system:

AMD XP 2200 T-bred (.13 micron)
SOYO Dragon kt400 Ultra (black)
2x 512 Mushkin Blue Line cl=2 pc3200
Geforce 3 TI 200
Stock HSF ( I have a copper pipped coolermaster on the shelf but it sounds like a jet airplane)
350w PSU ( its junk)

I know the CPU is locked. So I figured the best way would be to increase FSB. I have the BIOS settings on my ram as "by spd" and its running at 200mhz. Idle I run 32 C and at full load I hit 41c. I have the voltage on the RAM at 2.7v ( so it will run). Thanks in advance.

I'm trying to think. This morning I pushed my Sempron 2400+ from 1.67 to 2.0GHz just by going from 166FSB to 199FSB. I won't deal with the RAM, so I'd leave SPD as is. Assuming you have a program to verify your clock setting (AMD has one on their website), just bump up the FSB in increments of 33 until you reach 233FSB. Keep an eye on your heat, even though I don't expect it to be an issue.

To really help you, I need to know what the chip says on it. Go here AMD Processor Recognition and then post what you see on the chip.

Download and install Motherboard Monitor 5, Memtest86 and Prime95. These are free proggies, just google for 'em.

You'll MBM5 mostly to monitor temps on-screen as you OC.
Memtest will be used to test the stability of your ram.
P95 will be used to test the stability of your system's OC.

Since you cpu's multi is locked, you're gonna have to raise the FSB. Start with a jump of about 10-12, test with P95. If no go, increase vcore (voltage to cpu) a notch (ex. 1.65->1.675) and test again. Watch the temps as you increase vcore.

At some point either (1) your cooling will be inadequate to handle any vcore, (2) your board will run out of available vcore increases or (3) your chip will just get hotter, but not faster. Then go back and see if you tighten up the ram timings.

hmm inside my bios here are my options.

CPU freq: auto/manual/100/120/133/140/166/200 ( manual is 1 mhz stepping)
cpu/pci divider: 3/4/5
Dram clock: by spd/100/133/166/200
cpu ratio select: auto/ 5x - 18x

Then I can set my AGP, ram and vcore voltages seperately. I tried bumping up the fsb my 1 mhz stepping and it did not like it. Vcore is set at defualt and RAM is at 2.7v.

I downloaded the software from amd says I have AMD 2200 @ 1803 mhz.

Ok here is where I am currently at any comments/suggestions?

2.010 GHZ cpu voltage 1.725 V

All temps while running prime95

CPU socket 44
cpu diode 62
case 32

My RAM is running at 200 mhz (ddr400) and my fsb is up to 149 mhz.

How do my temps look? should I try to tweak anything else? Thanks
