When you format a hdd all settings in the Windows or data in the hdd will be erased. Regardless if you do it through Bios (Bios utility) or through Windows CD. Since your question is confusing, the bios settings will remain the same.

I don't use the program but I do believe it resets the bios. When you set your fsb w/ the asus program in windows it does not change untill you restart. Use the bios, besides having more options you don't need the asus program possibly screwing up your rig.

can someone explain to me what fsb speed is?

Sorry, Asus has an oveclocking utility that will allow you to do some overclocking through windows. It has a few features lile allowing you to increase the FSB and a few more options. What I am asking is that if I make the changes in windows do they change the bios ? Thanks J

OK, yeah most premium mobo's have oc'ing utilities like Gigabyte has the Easytune and MSI also has a different one. But they all work on the same principle. And the answer to your question, is yes the utility actually sets the changes to your bios. So if you format your hdd, the oc'ed settings stays until you reset it in the bios or reset it using the same mobo utility program.
