Oxygen vs Geforce3 and Quadro2

I'm going to be doing some computer animation for school and my instructor gave me a list of recommended cards. They are:
Geforce 2 series
Geforce 3 series
3dlabs Oxygen cards
Firegl cards

Now the FireGl cards are WAY too expensive (like in the thousands of dollars). The Oxygen card I'm looking at getting is this one Oxygen GVX1 but my question is would the geforce 3 series of cards be that much worse? Also how about the Quadro2 cards (I was thinking this one: ELSA Synergy 2000)

Which board to use depends on what exactly it is going to be used for.
