P233 + HD compatible?

My friend has a P233. Is there any reason this HD wont work?

The link isn't working properly...I'm not sure what hard drive your friend is trying to use. Generally speaking, though, if the hard drive is an ATA66/100 drive, you might experience problems running the drive on an older motherboard without onboard support for such devices. If this is the case, you'll probably have to buy a hard drive controller card in order to use the drive with the system.

It mainly depends on the BIOS.

Is this a Pentium MMX or a Pentium II?

Always try to update to the latest BIOS. Older BIOSes may only support up to 8GB. In such cases you will need to obtain a hard drive BIOS Overlay program to access the drive properly. Retail drives usually include such utilities. In certain cases, you may also need to disable ATA66 capability and drop it back to ATA33. Drive manufacturers also either provide these in their retail packages or available as a download from their website.

pretty good chance it'll work, depends on the bios of the motherboard mostly. As long as he has a ata 16 or higher controller it should be fine, but he might need to use ez drive or get a bios update. Try it first, if it doesnt work buy a cheap $20 or so pci ide controller.

Now, on to the original question...

As long as your friend's motherboard and BIOS support it (which they probably do), there should be no reason why the drive wouldn't work in your friend's system.
