1. You should never flash a BIOS through Windows as it can permanently kill a motherboard. (or it would not be cost effective to repair)

2. If you are using a single graphic card it should be in the the first PCIe slot closest to the CPU as the second slot is not PCIex16 (it is only PCIex4 on the DS4 and will reduce graphic bandwidth)

And I've edited that post with more setting so if could change those settings too please.

FYI - First thing you should do when building a new rig is to run a quick test on the memory at JEDEC spec or below to check for bad sticks.
Second thing once Windows is loaded is to stress test the all CPU cores simultaneously for 15-30 mins to check for errors

i did all those too. I doubt that i have memory issues because i was able to run at 1170 or 585 or PC9630 on timing 5-5-5-15.

ok cool - no errors.

Boot into Windows and run CoreTemp 0.95.4.0 so that you have the temps of all four cores displayed in your taskbar (around 30c hopefully give or take).

Start Prime95 v25.5.1.0.
On the advanced tab make sure you have ticked 'Round off checking'.
Then run the torture test on small FFTs for 30mins and hopefully no error. Make sure all temps on all cores stay below 70c. If you are running Prime95 correctly then you should have four worker threads displaying their respective test on screen

When you're done prime95ing and before the overclocking could you close windows and reboots into windows say three times just to check that all is still okay and that there are no cotton-pickin pesky boot failures lol

Back into BIOS & M.I.T.

CPU Clock Control = 9
CPU Host Control = Enabled
CPU Host Frerquency (MHz) = 370
PCI Express Frequency (MHz) = 100
System memory multiplier = 2 (This will set memory frequency to 740MHz to keep below JEDE spec)
FSB OvervoltageControl = up one click pls
CPU Voltage control = 1.28
If displayed, keep loadline calibration disabled
Keep all other settings as before

This will give you a cpu overclock at 3.33GHz

Now save the settings boot into windows and run prime 95 (be prepared for an error or a warning in under 5mins)

If all goes well run prime 95 for about 15 mins without any error or warning.

Hopefully temps will be around or below 55c if you have done a good lapping job. Remember to continuously eyeball those temps and stop test if any core is moving above 70c

Finally, if you are concerned with any settings I give then let me know as it is your equipment that you are testing. I accept no liability for any equipment failure, damage to components or personal injury to yourself. I have had my own q6600 in sig running at at over 3.7GHz on air (unlapped) but temps were in the 80s and I am getting better cooling once my salary is paid next week and will lap at same time. Intel spec is 71c for the G0. Please take this warning seriously. Your warranty has been invalidated.

On a lighter note I have never had any components fail when I have overclocked (bar one mobo after 2.5 years use which was heavily overclocked from day one)

And a heads up on flashing BIOS.

The BIOS holds all the input/output instructions that allow your components and mobo chips to communicate. Windows can freeze, halt and crash at any time. An internet connection can drop suddenly without any warning. If you are updating the BIOS through Windows via the internet and there is crash or the intenet connection fails then the BIOS instruction can be permanenty corrupted and the mobo is dead. A BIOS should only be updated direct either through a bootable floppy and then flashing from the floppy or by using specific dedicated BIOS upgrade program that is located within the BIOS. The specific dedicated program that Gigabyte use is called QFlash and can only be accessed once you have entered the main BIOS settings. Asus and some other manufacturers have their own programs that offer the same capability.

Results: Post screen shows 267x9. Passes post successfully. CPU-z shows 267x9 NOT 370x9... i have this problem constantl. I checked it 5 times by rebooting PC.

Your 10.47pm post is showing memory multipplier (spd) is set at 3. It should be at 2 otherwise you are overclocking memory without enough voltage (3x370=1110MHz=PC2-8880 when your GSkill is 800MHZ PC2-6400 and that is doomed to fail). keep memory multiplier SPD set at 2 so that memory speed is 370x2=740MHz (underclock). Your CPU should successfully now boot at 3.33GHz (370x9)

Also noticed that you have edited your last popst to say that BIOS has reset so you will have to go through Advance settings and MIT menus to correct all the settings.

There's something not right. At 300x9 that should be booting without any increase to CPU voltage and we have increased. Okay let's switch this round as sometimes boards have an FSB level where they won't boot but will work above that FSB and below.

First pls can you confirm whether you are using any other expansion slots.

I will try above setting. I am telling you I don't understand the computer behavior. I never experienced this on my AMD, clocking on DFI.

Maybe its a PSU issue. I am running Antec true Power 2.0. I dont have so much load on it. PSU never gave me problems on AMD and DFI.
OR its faulty board.

If this doesn't work I'm not sure. It could be that you have picked up a q6600 that won't overclock or the mobo from ebay could have been sold for a reason. Or the memory needs to be checked in more depth.

If this doesn't work then download the F11 BIOS and put it on the floppy. Use QFlash to re-update the BIOS. You can enter the QFlash program via the BIOS. One inside the BIOS and on the main screen press F8 and QFlash will start. Follow the instructions carefully. Details are in the manual and also on Gigabyte website.

Try 375x8 overclock with load claibration switched on.

If all that still fails then run the GSkill with memtest for 8-10 hours (no need to ask for test #5 this time just let it do its thing). 5-5-5-18 1.8v

If memory passes then take the CPU to a friend and see if you can test it installed in their rig with an overclock. If the CPU passes at your friends then you have a problem with the mobo. I just quickly scanned Gigabyte warranty terms and it doesn't appear to say anything about you having to be the original owner. Maybe an RMA would be possible.

I'm sorry that I haven't been able to assist with the overclock. It appear to be ok at stock speeds but will not overclock for some reason.
