p4 2.8 to 3.4

I have a Pentium 4 2.8ghz Prescott 478 , I'm trying to max out my Ac7-Max 3 motherboard. I do not overclock either, overclocking will be a last resort once the motherboard is maxed out. Should i get a Pentium 3.4 Prescot socket 478? I'm a gamer and video editor. Would the difference be worth it? And i'd put my 2.8 on ebay, any idea how much i'd get for it.. or should ask for it.

It won't hurt your cpu to try overclocking. I would raise your cpu fsb to 250, and the cpu voltage core to 1.55. If your board won't post, use the memory ratio of 5:4 or set to 333. My 2.8c runs great at 260 fsb (3640). I've had no temp or stability issues for about 6 months. If you still want to sell it, I would ask $160 for it, and see if you get any responses.

well the highest speed chip you can get for a socket 478 board would be a 3.4ghz, but it really wouldn't hurt to try and overclock. My socket 478 2.8ghz prescott ran at 3.5ghz easily, and you have a good board for overclocking..and yeah, going from a 2.8 to 3.4 would be benificial for both gaming and definatly video editing, but the 2.8@3.5 would be even better. Especialy if you can keep the memory at 1:1, the extra bandwidth is nice.
