congrat THUGSROOK you are my OC hero....

i have few questions... i´m going to upgrade to 1.8A + ASUS P4S533 + 333 SAMSUNG 512 DDR
and want to ask about that board. i´ve read many rewiews about it and it sounds well.
DDR 400MHz is also deal for me cuz i will buy it when will be available in our country.

But you guys are making 8´th wonder of the world with P4B266-C. So i´m little muddy around it.

I have also read your recomend for P4S333/533 only for systems under 141fsb... but ... is it
only your oppinion or have you tried it? (or does anybody tried P4S533 at higher FSB?)

Would you recomend that board (P4S533) or wait til some new with I845E will arive ?
Price is also my problem cuz those with SIS chipsets are much cheaper then with intel chip.

My target is to reach 160-167 FSB (2900 - 3000 MHz) could it be reachable ? What do you think ...
on which VCoore ? Could i reach that at 1.7V or must go to the risky area of cable wiring ?
(i don´t know anything abou it ... i must read whole thread about it)

i know that is all wery hypothethic question but you are pro and have a lot of know-how in this.

please advise newbie....Text

*clears throat and looks at his sig*

No, it definitely won't hit 141 fsb! I'm just running my P4S333 at 153fsb.
I'd shoot up to 155 or 157fsb but my RAM can't handle it.

There's someone on another forum that I frequent with his system running at a higher fsb than mine, and his RAM can handle it.

If you'd like I'll see if he can post a message on here about his P4S533 for you?

CrawlingEye I'd be very interested in what your friend has to say about his setup. I'm in the same boat as somtoja11. I've pretty much narrowed it down to those two boards.

the P4S533 is more suited for the 1.8A and higher cpus than a 1.6A.
those boards have a hard time going over 150fsb.

the P4B266-C isnt a great choice for a 1.8A due to lack of memory ratios.
the Abit BD7-II could be a good alternative to the P4S533.

you aint gonna reach 160-167fsb with a 1.8A. 140-150fsb is more realistic.
if you want 160+fsb you should get a 1.6A/P4B266-C combo.

Maybe you aren't going to go over 150fsb, but I all ready have. I can hit 155 stable with 1.7 vcore.

I concur with thugs...as a p4s333 mobo owner I can say that the board is not very stable with my 1.8a over 139fsb...Also many are reporting this board is very fragile and I along with thugs and a few others have had issues when taking it a bit far for very little time. Resistors burning out and tempermental voltage booster should be considered....

since you are going to be running 1.8a you are right on the edge of this boards likely limit...I also recommend you avoid using voltage booster and go straight to the vcore mod trick....

Actually 139fsb would put you at 2.5ghz which is the limit of a lot of p4's, regardless of the mobo.
I could have various people post from www.sharkyforums.com and vouche for the P4S333's and P4S533's.

I don't know what the hell you people did to your P4S333's, but obviously something wrong.

pretty much the only thing we did wrong was use the vcore boost in conjunction with taking it up to 1.675 in bios....the chip never went above 52c full load and then one day I started getting error. If I use vcore boost at all get errors...I basically can't go above 1.55v in bios or I get errors, regardless of mhz of fsb set. So that limits me in my oc. I was doing 2.52ghz out of my 1.8, but now live with 2.25ghz at 1.55v. I will rma it...

I am sure you can find a lot of ppl who have been happy with the mobo....I also think there are ram latency issues, as well as lower agp and harddrive performance. In same setup I got much better agp and harddrive performance with a i845d mobo.

I concur..my 1.6a/P4S333 was only stable up to about 145 or so
my 1.6a/P4S533 is stable up to 156..although I think Im gonna set it for 150fsb, 4:5 config

i still dont understand clearly....

let´s sum it up: OKay i can switch P4S533 and replace it with some P4B266-C (or
newer - possibly gigabyte with i845E) .... that´s NO problem.

but from your words ... i predict ... 1.8A WOULDN´T REACH 2.8-3.0 GHz (at normal certanity - dont
take best scenario BUT realistic one - i will take not best chip/mem/board/PSU/...)

so WOULDN´t reach that speeds (am I right ?).

from your past reply to me ... i´m not gonna go for FSB as target
FSB is way to frequency... so i don´t want 166FSB for bandwidth but for 3GHz.

so normally reachable limit would probably be : 1.8A at 2.6-2.7 (144-150FSB) and better
with i845D or i845E (i think gigabyte is suitable)

agree ?

No, all p4's have the same core, limiting them pretty much to the same speeds.
You're just as likely to hit 2.7ghz with a 1.6a as you are with a 1.8a. They have identical cores, just different multipliers.

I don't see why you're trading your P4S533 though for a board with less options?

If you're selling it, I'll buy it and show you how it works.
