Has anyone here used this and gotten the "P90X Body"?

Discus benefits vs going to gym and doing it your own way with classes and/or weight lifting.

I have yet to see one posted here with that, yes that may be extreme but thats what I mean.

You wont get really low bf% like that without a good diet, no matter how much you work out.



here's his diet.


Breakfast: Three fried-egg sandwiches loaded with cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, fried onions and mayonnaise. Two cups of coffee. One five-egg omelet. One bowl of grits. Three slices of French toast topped with powdered sugar. Three chocolate-chip pancakes.

Lunch: One pound of enriched pasta. Two large ham and cheese sandwiches with mayo on white bread. Energy drinks packing 1,000 calories.

Dinner: One pound of pasta. An entire pizza. More energy drinks.



While not likely, it is possible

If you follow the program to the letter, including the diet guide, you will definitely see results. I'm in week 10/13 right now of my first time through the program. So far, I'm down almost 30lbs and am definitely stronger, and much more flexible. It really depends on the shape you are in now, the drive you have to succeed, and of course genetics. Not everyone is destined to look like Tony Horton. Don't forget, that dude is damn near 54 years old right now, so it obviously will work if you put in the effort.

I haven't followed the diet guide at all, and I'm down 30lbs, I have been eating a set amount of calories a day but, if I want to go out and have a few Fat Tires and eat a nice meal, I don't worry about it. The next time through, I'm going to really lock it down and see what kind of results I can obtain.

You said you're feeling stronger but can you see any muscles forming? I looked at my friends p90x diet guide and don't think I can follow it. My diet sucks, 98% of veggies I cannot eat, they just make me gag. You're the 1st person I've seen who's doing p90 and not following the diet guide so I'm curious. You just inspired me to give it a shot lol

I work with a dude who doesnt follow the nutrition at all and he has gained a bunch of upper-body mass which I assume is muscle. All you need to do to gain muscle is eat protein in appropriate quantities and have a decent workout which you max out. Thats my theory, probably wrong but its worked for me.

Yes I can definitely see a difference. I took before pictures which I encourage everyone to do. I based my calorie intake off of the "Mifflin-St.Jeor" calculator. Ended up being right around 2400 calories a day, (I started around 340 lbs). The only real veggies I eat are spinach salads, and sometimes asparagus. Mostly just boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cottage cheese, whey protein, and some Fiber One. I keep most of my carbs in my morning meals, then taper off throughout the day. You don't have to follow their diet guide to be successful. You just need to know your maintenance calories/ day, and then hit that number consistently and workout.

This first run through for me was really a trial to get in a little better shape, and get acclimated from the program. I was big when I started and I still am but, I can do so much more in regards to the exercises, so it keeps me coming back. Tracking your progress with the worksheets is a huge help to chart your progress. I played offensive line when I was in high school, so I have always been big, but right now, I'm back down to where I was when I was 17 years old, and I am still not anywhere near where I want to end up, and that keeps me coming back.

Actually, I'd put proper training and carbs ahead of protein.

Not with weight training. Carbs are almost unimportant with a resistance training program. They're much more important for endurance and aerobic activities. Protein consists of amino acids, amino acids are the building blocks of muscle. Carbs don't build muscle.

You realize that the guy in picture is going to be shot under favorable conditions. He probably doesn't look like that from all angles/ conditions. Hell I can make myself look something similar to that under favorable conditions, and I hardly ever work out or diet. Basically you shouldn't worry about looking like some guy from a promo shot/video.

P90x is just a workout/nutrition program, if you follow it closely you will likely get some results like you would with any decent workout/nutrition program, but you shouldn't expect miracles. My friend did P90x, I am not sure how strictly, he wasn't real ripped afterwards but overall he did look better.

Also, he probably dropped all salt and carbs, and didn't drink water for a day before that shoot. He's the extreme of lean - and you honestly don't want to look like him. If you get that way and don't have access to food, you die weeks sooner than if you had a little bit of fat on you. Honestly 10-12% of body fat is the leanest I need to get to feel great about myself.
