NGE and RahXephon are both science fantasy giant robot anime with religious mysticism. IMHO, RahXephon has a better lead character, story, art, and ending (in the series versions).

I really enjoyed it. Take it for what it is and it's a pretty good flick. Granted I don't think I would have payed movie theater prices but I don't do the movies except an occasional one for the kids, it's all home theater.

Watched it again on the plane (again). They mentioned the fact that you can't cut em up and let their blood flow for like 3 seconds in the beginning.

Bad how? If you liked Godzilla, this is no worse or campy than those. You could "try" to say they were making a serious movie, but anyone with half a brain going to see a movie about giant robots and giant dinosaurs from another dimension should already know how it's going to be...

I personally loved this movie.

Ya know... if this ever happened for real, I got a much simplier solution than building giant fighting robots or huge seawalls:

Step 1: Place nuclear submarine next to the fissure where the Kaiju come out.
Step 2: Wait for fissure to open
Step 3: Fire some nuclear weapon tipped torpedos down the fissure hole.
Step 4: BOOM. No more fissure for awhile.

It wouldn't have made for a very entertaining movie, though.

Sounds like you didn't watch the movie... according to the movie lore only the Kaiju can go in/out of the portal as it is mapped to their DNA... shooting nukes into it wouldn't close it or destroy the other side apparently.

BTW, I enjoyed the movie for what it was, a summer action flick.

Yeah, but if you fire the torpedo while the Kaiju is coming out of the hole, you'll have plenty of Kaiju bits floating around to keep the portal open

Ok, OK... I guess that I need 2 torpedos to make this plan work. Still cheaper than building a Yager.

I watched the movie... good summer action flick if you remember to keep your brain shut off while watching it.

it was mostly old skool... guys in monster costumes ala Godzilla and Ultraman.. and I loved Pacific Rim because of that

if you have an awesome sound system, this movie has one of the best sound out of any movie out there. it's really really good.

Looks like part 2 will survive. A story a couple months ago mention the sequel had succumbed to financial pressures at the studio (more so from other recent underperformers than the results of PR1), but a new article has announced a new distribution agreement for 2 and a new director.

I absolutely loved it so your not alone. I liked the story line, special effects and as mentioned the sound was fantastic.
