From the Techcrunch hands-on:
It?s straight up gorgeous, but it?s not perfect - yet. During our demonstration, a few things went on the fritz: there was a bit of lag, certain menus wouldn?t open no matter how many times they were poked. With Palm only promising ?by the end of the first half of 2009?, they?ve still got nearly a full 6 months to crack out the bugs, so we won?t judge them too much.
hmm, so like 6 months at the earliest most likely.
No, 6 months _at the latest_. Sprint and Palm are going to be in a serious hurry to get this thing out, as it'll probably save both their bottom lines for the year. Given the state of the software (surprisingly good!), I would lean more towards late Q1, early Q2.
Some of the features I really like:
1. Tethering support over BT!
2. A2DP
3. Facebook and Google integration
4. Gestures
5. Physical keyboard
6. Easy-to-use SDK with access to hardware
Things I'm less than thrilled about:
1. No removable storage support. Yeah, it's got 8gb internal, but there are some big microSDHC cards out there now.
2. Codec support seems awfully limited, especially given the "OMG SO POWERFUL" processor they put in there. I was hoping for WMA and WMV, really...
3. No video out. Expecting HDMI seems a bit much, perhaps, but I was hoping...
What I would like to know more about:
1. What's the scoop with the maps? Will we be able to navigate with turn-by-turn? Pics suggest yes, but there's no confirmation.
2. What's going on with the PC side of things regarding PIM and media sync?
3. Battery life?
