So, going to the gym has resulted in a huge weight gain. I'm up to 228 from 211 thats almost 1lb/day but I don't know where it's going, I don't look that much bigger and I'm still losing fat. Pants I bought a few weeks ago are getting lose. I can visually see improvement, around my stomach abs are kinda sorta starting to pop out up top, hip bones are visible now too. But... I wanted to drop down to 200lbs and it's just not happening. I still have a decent amount of fat to cut but I just don't see getting to my weight goal at this pace.

Good job with the progress on your lifts.

As long as you are getting strong, I wouldn't worry too much about weight gain. If you're stronger, you can throw around bigger weights while cutting and burn a lot more calories that way.

It's a lot harder to gain muscle mass than to cut fat for young guys. Personally, I dropped around 50 pounds in the last few months doing Crossfit and am back to bulking on a strength bias program. It definitely feels good to eat a ton and lift heavy.

Squats: 225x5 295x5x5
Bench: 185x5x5
push ups: 3x15
lat pulldowns:130x3x10
reverse crunches: 3x12

Felt the power today did the 3 sets of pushups, lat pulldowns and reverse crunches without stopping and without much trouble. Going to bump up the bench and squat next time around, they were easy this time around. I don't know if it's the extra protein or creatine but I like it

Squats: 275x5x5
OH Press: 120x5x5
Dead Lift: 225x5 295x1 345x1 - testing my DL comp
pull ups: 4,4,4
Prone bridges 3x60 seconds

Squatted a little light today just because I maxed out my DL. Other than that everything felt great.

Squats: 255x5 300x5x5
Bench: 190x5x5
push ups: 3x10 - was pressed for time so I did quick sets with next to no rest(same with the bench)
lat pulldowns:140x3x10
reverse crunches: 3x12

THEN went out for 2 hours of football practice. I'm going to be sore in the morning but the results are going to be worth it. Can't wait for school to get out so I can start up MMA again, then again I might wait to see how I feel in the morning before I commit to that...

I think the football is helping with my lifting a lot, the bench press was a lot easier this week than 185 was last week and squats seemed light too. Also didn't need nearly as much rest between sets as normal. It's either that or the creatine or both...

Left out lat pulldowns because some guy was doing a 20 set circuit on the lat tower and I have football practice in about 30 min so I didn't have time to wait around for him. Should have added weight again today but I think the once a week thing is a decent idea for now.

Made it to the gym yesterday but fotgot to post it. over all I'm happy with where I'm at, going to add weight again my next time. It'll be nice this summer when class is over so I'm not so rushed to get out of the gym. Most of my sessions have been less than 45 min compared to 1-1.25hrs I was at before.

I say quit the gym buy some good running shoes and just do cardio and diet to trim some fat. I'm pretty sure your form would show after shedding off some fat IMO. Goodluck

I did run and trimmed down quite a bit initially. Now I'm dong a slow bulk which at the same time it slowly burning fat. I've added in the football for more practical use of my muscles, and I will also probably be adding in MMA once school gets out for the summer. Overall I'm ok with my body comp at the moment but there is always room for improvement.

Squats: 305x5x5
OH Press: 125x5x5
Dead Lift: 225x5 275x5
pull ups: 5,5,4

Everything felt good today, pull ups still suck but they're getting better. All in all a decent Sunday in the gym. Hopefully I can resolve my scheduling issues and get back to football practice this week...

Also, I'm sitting at 227lbs but abs are starting to poke through more, which is telling me my bf% is dropping which is all I'm really worried about at this point.

I'm a bit concerned that you are still squatting quite a bit more for a 5x5 than you are deadlifting for a 1x5. Perhaps you just have way more experience with the squat or particularly weird limb length/ratios that favor squatting, but I'd be worried that something is wrong with your deadlift technique.

I didn't DL in high school and I was squatting over 400 regularly... this jacks my numbers up quite a bit. I've noticed bigger gains DLing tho. I'm adding more DL sets just to even stuff out. Also, my grip seems to be holding me back WAY more than my legs. For the DL comp I did 405 and I think I could have done more if it weren't for my shitty grip. My max DL is 405 and my max squat is just 365 although I haven't tried to max squats in a while.

That makes sense. However, if your max DL is 405, you should probably be doing more than 275x5. If grip is holding you back, then spend some quality time working on it: do farmers walks, bar hangs, static holds, use mixed grip, hook grip, etc. The deadlift is one of the most functional exercises you can do - after all, what's more functional than lifting heavy sh*t from the ground? Get some more weight on the bar and you'll see a difference in other exercises (like the squat) and even football.

Had a few hours of football practice today, was fun but I kinda jacked my left knee up a little. Hopefully it doesn't effect me in the gym tomorrow.

felt awesome today, squats were too easy and bench was no struggle. Going to add weight again next time around. My knee is still bothering me but I'm going to practice, I'll report back later with how it goes.

luckily practice was pretty light tonight, not too much running and next to no hitting so my legs made it without issue. A sold 2 hours tho, feels good!

OH Press: 125x5x5
Dead Lift: 225x5 275x5
pull ups: 5,5,4

I decided to do 2 sets of 20 squats at bodyweight because my back was hurting pretty bad(just slept on it wrong) the original goal was to do 30 but I was getting winded and light headed so I changed my mind. Over all it went ok, just need to get my DL weight up some more...

My lower back was really sore today after the squats and DL's so I skipped out on football practice today because I think my back is sore because I haven't been getting much rest.
