It's more than $2 more and it tastes worse. Are you really too lazy to turn on an oven?

By the time I get a Papa John's delivered to my door it runs me $18 with tip. It would be cheaper if I got carry-out, but I still have to wait around on them to make and bake my pizza, plus PM's is a better pizza anyway. I just wish that the closest one wasn't in Austin.

It was Papa Aldo's, and by being uncooked you can use food stamps

bake it yourself means the franchise doesnt have to have massive ovens running all day for orders that may not come in at a regular rate to justify the ovens being on all the time. electrical bill savings are passed on to customer.

i like their stuffed pies, but the crust isn't sourdough like costco. the crust is more bread-like than chewy.

as for cost, they are way cheaper than any other baked chain store for the equivalent size. the only ones in a similar price range are costco and safeway uncooked pizzas. around here at least.

Add 10-12 minutes to the cooking time. It makes the crust super crispy, and it crisps up the pepperoni a bit. If you do that, it's pretty kick ass.

Cook time is only 10-12 minutes to start with for a regular one, I can't imagine doubling that would turn out well.

Yeah, at that time the crust is still doughy and the center of the cheese doen't melt. Keep it in there until the cheese starts to bubble and scortch a bit on top. usually takes 20+ minutes.

Have you tried sliding it off the tray at around the 8-9 minute mark?

Anything besides pepperoni is great at papa murphy's. The chicken alfredo pizza is my favorite. My wife and I can make a better chicken alfredo ourselves though but that takes a while.

I thought both were still around... http://www.papajohns.com/index.shtm and http://www.papamurphys.com/.

Now the question is, which is better....

Not related- papa murphys was called Papa Aldos (I remember ordering from them).
Don't have any near me any more though

First time I went there I was suprised by the cook your own thing too. But after cooking it, I didn't mind so much anymore. Good stuff. They also always have decent coupons as well.

Papa John's or some shit??
You don't know that Papa John's is a completely different company and still around, and thriving?

Papa Aldo's Pizza and Murphy's pizza were thw two companies... We had a Papa Aldo's which became Papa Murphy's...

And Papa Murphy's is some of the best pizza around...
Better than anything Pizza Hut or Domino's has to offer... (Domino's is fucking garbage)

The stuffed pizza is good, but it's hard to get it cooked right... can get a tad soggy in the middle... I wish I had a good pizza stone for that.

I prefer the all meat (non stuffed) pizza....

So it can be fresh baked when you eat it?
Also makes it slightly cheaper here as unprepared food is not taxed. The newer one I just checked out does have an oven on the premises, though.

In Washington, they are able to accept food stamps cards because of this...
So my tax money buys lazy fuckers and welfare moms some deelish papa murphys...
i hate that shit...
get a job!

I do not understand you people that like Little Caesar's...
I've gone a few times but stopped... their large pizza is not worth $2, let alone $5. They are bland and gross when fresh.... and worse when they've been sitting in the warmer a while...
And I've been to...5 Little Caesar's around here since they reappeared.. we used to have them a long time ago and then they all disappeared, except the ones in K-Mart...

Little Caesar's is for bums, and cheapskates who will eat garbage to save a few bucks.

The biggest fan of LC I know... a friend of mine... he's a fuckin bum, 99% of the time he'll spend any money he gets on beer instead of food. He wouldn't survive without foodstamps...
But when he does spend money on food, it is often Little Caesars...
So that pizza is worth $5 to him... sometimes...
I offered him $5 bucks one time to eat a live cricket... which he happily did...
So... a LC pizza is only worth $10 more than eating a cricket....

Hah, someone's defensive when it comes to pizza. That's alright though. Different taste buds and such. I prefer little caesars pizza over papa murphy's but that's just me.

I hope that the LC around here is worse than everywhere else, because it is genuinely garbage...I don't understand how anyone could like this crap.
I should clarify... my friend, the fan of LC... is just because of it being cheap and convenient. He prefers Papa Murphy's probably 10 times more than LC, and will buy it when he has foodstamps and can get to a PM's...
He can just walk down to LC.

And I'm not defensive about Pizza, in fact pizza is not even on my top 10 food list...
but if I am gonna eat it and get the inevitable intestinal cramping that is always involved, it had better be delicious...

Sorry to bring this thread back from teh dead but Papa Murphy's just opened a few stores around town.

My wife hates ordering pizza but we ate papa murphy's for 5 weekends straight. So damn good and so much food on the cheap.

They have 2 stores open now and plan on opening 6 more this year. Everyone we've told about them have since switched to PM.

Chicken Garlick pizza is amazing. Also they have those pizza-in-a-pizza things that are a massive amount of food for the price.
