Don't look at it as a sequal, but rather the next incarnation or something. Every basketball game I've ever played was pretty damn similar, but they keep releasing them year after year. Civ is a game without a story and characters and such. It's just so fvcking addicting.

VERY ADDICTING.

I kinda feel like the pacing is 'off' in Civ4 tho' -- Civ 1-3 had a really 'epic' feel, and I'd spend 48+ hours on a large map, doing most of my warmongering in the modern age. I loved to plan anphibious assaults using huge air and naval aramadas...in 4, I feel like things move too fast and by the time I hit the modern era, I don't feel the connection to my empire, I figuht a few wars and then start a new game.

AOE3 & Quake 4 at the moment. Just beat Serious Sam 2. I'm thinking about Civ4 next, or maybe going for some HL2 again. My favorite recurring games are Fallout2 (which I break out at least once a year), Rise of Nations, and Galactic Civilizations. I will get the sequal to GalCiv when it comes out.

I just started replaying Return to Castle Wolfenstein. I hadn't been able to play it with all the goodies cranked up on my last rig, I can now. It's still pretty good even almost 5 years later.

This summer, I finished HL2, FarCry, Theif 3 (waste of gaming, at least it was free with my video card), and Joint Operations: Typhoon Rising.
I got some kind of horrible stomach flu, so I missed about two weeks of work.

Why do you feel thief 3 was a waste of gaming?

I see all these people playing (Pay per month) games like WoW, I never did get into any of thsoe. I run my own MMORPG game. My firends and I release updates for quests and Code on a regular basis and the game is free to everyone to play.

I spend mabye a couple hours a week working on code and updates but other than that I don't ahve time for games.... Too much to enjoy in life right now! Although I have gotten in about 1 hour of play time on Dragon Quest 8 for PS2 since I've had it for aabout a week now. Looks like it will be a good game but I don't have much time to devote to playing it.

Set one machine up with Civ1 and another machine up with Civ4. If the game doesn't play and look different then something is wrong.

As far as Civ3 vs Civ4, the biggest thing Civ4 brings to the table is successful multiplayer.

When you mentioned Anachronox I remembered buying it, playing it and quitting somewhere in the middle. For the life of me I couldn't recall why. Maybe it was because I played before all the patches and if so maybe I'll give it another shot...
