PC noob needs your help.

Hi new guy here.

I'm currently having trouble trying to run at 200mhz(fsb).I had to do the load opitimaized thing in the bio's.
I have a Series SL-75FRN2 Nvidia Nforce 2 Stocket A mainboard. I bought my self some new 1 gig kingston hyper X PC3200 DDR400's recently. Before that i had a stick of 512MB crucial PC2700 DDR333. I was able to hit 200mhz+ with it.
My processor's a AMD

Ever since then i switched over to the new ram, i couldn't even run at 175mhz. Some say i have to add more power to the ram, or whatever but i have no clue.

I was trying to hit 166mhz before, but everytime...the pc would just reboot it self at windows loading page(windows XP PRO) Had to return it to opitimazed settings which is at 100mhz @ 1.10gigz with 1.0 gig of ram I haven't moved it up higher YET, because i don't want to have the pc re-boot by it self everytime i hit a higher MHZ.

Oh and tonight i installed a new CPU heatsink, Cooler master, works sooo nice.

If anyone can help me or teach me how to hit 200mhz which is about 3200+ i would greatly appreicated

Be sure to put the (as I assume, you have 2x512Mb mem sticks) memory sticks into slots 1&3 (preferred) , or 2&3 instead of 1&2 !

yeah my ram slots are 1 and 3

going to try to turn up the voltage on the ram and see if it works

yup, i turn it up to 2.7 voltage on the ram.

currently running @ 166mhz fbs

Athlon (tm) +2500 @ 1.84Ghz
1gig of ram

Going to stay with this setting for a few days and see how it handles. Will be moving the FBS higher if its stable, If i do plan on moving the FBS higher to 200mhz+ what else do i need to do? Raise the vcore to the cpu? I don't think it'll let me raise the CPU voltage...i've read somewhere about an update/crack or some sort in order to raise the cpu voltage.

Good News! So you got it there by just doing a little voltage bump for ram. And no need for a bump to vcore. Are you using stock HS+F ? Good Luck and hoping it stays stable

no im not using stock heatsink + fan

i bought a Cooler Master areo 4.
