PC2700 vs PC3200

I need some help from the experts.

I am buying an Asus A7N8X-DX Motherboard, and was wondering about memory.

Would there be any benefit of having PC3200 over PC2700, running on a 166MHz bus

Say i bought 2x256MB Corsair XMS 2700 Low Latency RAM using dual channel on the Nforce2 Chipset, would there be any performance increase or decrease using PC 3200, same brand, same timing?

Any suggestions or information would be greatly appreciated.

Short answer: if you're not going to be overclocking at you're leaving it at 166, no reason NOT to save money by going with the PC2700. Even running the memory async (166/200) will give you little to nothing to gain.

For right now PC2700 is a good choice simply because there is no standard yet for PC3200 ram. The newer ram may not work quite right now or may not work right when a standard does come out.

you should get the 3200 if you plan on getting a barton and or running the mobo over ddr333?
I would run that mobo @ top speed 180 to 200FSB=ddr400
